I bought a 1987 Vette last week and I want to change the coolant. The shop manual says open the block drain plugs. Where are they located and what do they look like? Thanks.

#17 is the critter your looking for but I'd leave that alone and just throughly flush the system.

just my .o2 :w

there should be one on either side of the block, the Knock sensor will be threaded in one and a pipe plug will be in the other side same location. I personally just flush and refill

Bossvette has pointed out the correct locations.

Removing the block plugs is the easiest way to fully drain the system. You just jack it up, pull the KS and the plug then drain the radiator and you're done. When the drains run dry, simply replace the KS and the plug and close the radiator drain then reful the system.

my mistake......that's a '89-'91 block...the '87's didn't have that drain plug...sorry
