Okay, I'm going to buy the book by Doug Roe on the Rochester (QJet). And also I want to get a cheap beat-up QJet (junkyard?) so I can restore it and rebuild it. Just something to get a little pride out of.

Where could I find a used and cheap QJet?

Thanks! :D

Should be tons of them in the local junk yard. GM produced and used them by the millions over the years.

tom...

Would there be a difference for different year QJets? For instance, will I need to look for one from '78 to be able to use it on my '78 (once it's all cleaned up)?

Email me your address, and I'll send you the extra one that I have. I won't be able to use it now my new car, and it's just sitting on the shelf needing a home.

Ive thrown a ton of them in the trash;LOL

This is a great idea TR. I think I'm going to go out and see if I can find me one as well. We have a pull apart junk yard a couple miles from my home that I'm sure has some old Chevy's.

Anybody know how I would identify the correct model that would go with my 77? Not necessarily the right year or anything, just the same model.

TR.... how would you like a new rebuilt Q-Jet still in the box for a reasonable price? Send me an email. If you are going to be at Carlisle I will bring it with me. I will make it a special deal. It's been in my garage for a while and I need to unload it.

What I think I understand is that you can get a QJet from even the late '60s and early '70s, and it would be fine for your '77. The only difference is that Rochester had to narrow down and make a few adjustments because of the emissions years that brought it on. So I think you would probably be fine with whatever you decided to go with, the QJet from either year. :)

What a novel idea! Im gonna bite on this one. This sounds like a good way to get some experience here. To the junkyard it is!

I dont even have a vette but Im already getting parts! Whats wrong w/ me? Although its in the works and Im gonna go drive one tomorrow.
