It started out to remove the radiator and clean out the leaves and candy wrappers and maybe detail the engine/compartment. When I got the water pump off I saw the tell tale green trail at the weep hole. Pulled off the Opti and will replace it, but it looks like all the grunge is coming from the seal leaking at the opti/cam hole. It looks like it is slinging oil all over the front of the engine. The crossmember is really gummed up.

At this point I don't see any sign of the intake leaving any wet trails, but I believe that the valve cover gaskets may be leaking.

Anyway, I'm not going to pull the engine for a rebuild because it is/was running pretty strong. I plan to pull the front cover, and replace the seals. Hope this cures the leaking problems for the next couple of seasons.

Any comments are much appreciated.

Pete

It may never end, but be happy that you found the problem now, while just casually cleaning the engine compartment, rather than getting stranded somewhere. The Optispark can be a real pain in the butt sometimes. Good luck. :)
