My courtesy lights won't go out, and it's running down the battery!
I've been pulling the fuse - but this kills the radio, heater, etc.
The FSM says the module is located behind the right side of the
instrument panel. I've learned that the term "instrument panel" is flexible,
sometimes it refers to the entire dashboard - which means that the right
side would be the passengers side, other times it refers only the the
actual area cotaining instruments - which means the right side would
be behind the radio.
Can anyone clarify this - and how do I get to this module to disconnect or test it.
The whole situation is further complicated by the presence of a Code Alarm module,
which also turns on/off the courtesy lights. I'm trying to work up a plan to check this all out.
(I have an '89).
TIA for any help.

Try looking under the passenger side hush panel. It may be easier to view it with the removal of the dash cover which is rather easy. You will find 2 screws on top where the defroster air comes from...then look under the front edge and you will find several screws there. If you have dash speakers you will need to remove them or at least pick them from the holes and slide them back through sideways when the cover is loose. Once all the screws are out gently lift up and pull back on the cover. Be careful as the cover is made of styrofoam and is expensive to replace. Once removed you will have a great view from the top versus being a contortionist and looking up from the bottom.

Once you remove the module I can offer repair service on it for you. You pay shipping and parts...labor free to CAC members...email me if interested.

I had that same question a while back...

Thanks for the replies.
Now I have to decide whether to squirm into the passenger footwell to check out the delay module, or the droiver footwell to find cnd check out the Code Alarm module.
Or ... say to h*** with it and drive around with the top down on this great day.
(Probably door # 3).

That picture saved my Booty a while back Ken:upthumbs

Problem solved !!
Turned out to be the driver side door switch. Fortunately I tried this first, per my dealer's suggestion, and avoided havind to crawl into the car to look at the other possibilities.
Many thanks to those who offered help.
