where to buy a big block engine?

So I am thinking of buying a big block engine if I purchase a smallblocked car with a bb hood (hey, why not? )... Now, where would I get this?

I live on the east coast (North VA/Washington DC) so anything remotely close (mind the oxymoron) is a good start.

You can buy a brand new GM Goodwrench replacement crate 454 BBC from any GM dealer for as little as $3800 ... brand new ... not rebuilt ... with 3yr/ 50Kmile GM warranty. Get acquainted with the parts guy at the dealership ... go through the options. Most of the sbc ps, ac, alt brackets will not fit a BBC ... most crates do not come with such brackets ... nor do they come with exhaust manifolds/headers.

as stated in triplicate, GM performance is the best source a moderate performance big block. the added warrenty is a major bonus as well.
the big questions i have are, in no order:
1. what are your power goals??
2. why a big block??
3. would a high hp small block suit your needs better??
4. are you concerned with added weight??
5. what's your budget????????????????? this is the biggie!!!!!!!!!
as Jack mentioned, if you get a car with a small block, you will have to get all new acc brackets, new fan shroud, possible new radiator, exhaust, IM won't allow a BB in a SB only year model ('75-'03), suspension springs, etc. these are a few things that add extra costs to the swap, it may be cheaper to build or buy a SB that is putting out the same power you want out of a BB. just a couple of thoughts to ponder. give us a shout with anymore questions, the collective mind of this forum is amazing!!
