Does any of you guys have some advice where to buy engine parts on the net? I've looked at www.speedomotive.com ,they have some nice prices (at least with norwegian eyes), anybody have experience with them?
The oilpump pick up fell off and I destroyed a couple of rods, and the crank, before I observed that the oil pressure was missing. I've tought about adding some stroke to my 427 when I rebuilding it. Anyway, I need a new crank and some rods, bearing, gaskets........

Advice please

summitracing.com
jegs.com
check out salee chevrolet

i've used summit, and they do a nice job

If you stroke a 427 you will recreate the 454 . the 427 came about after G.M. techs de-stroked a 454 to make it spin up quicker.you would be better off to cam the guts out of it. mike

It may be that I got the history wrong but I belive it was the 454 that replaced the 427. The 427 came in 1963 based on the 409 block before it changed to todays block. It was replaced by the 454 in 1970. However, I belive in cubic inch and was planning to go beyond the 454 stroke, the only replacement for cubic inch is more cubic inch. :)

if it spun or overheated any main bearing you had better check the main saddles for cracks

Motorman; I was lucky and the only thing destroyed was the cyl 1 & 2 rod journal, and a couple of rods. No visible damage to the main bearings.

jdp6000; local GM dealer is not an option when you live 700 km North of the artic circle in Norway, unless you have a unlimited bank account. However we have a couple of good custom parts shops, but importing the parts myself is a lot cheaper as long as I can trust the company.

Well, if all else fails. Call Highland Chev/Olds. at 905-727-9444, its just up the street from me. I'll see to it that you get your parts...so long as they have them.

Jim

I've gotten most of my 427 parts at Jegs & Summit. You have to play them both because sometimes one is cheaper than the other. Both have great service from my experience.
