Ok, so I love the 5-spokes on my 1990 Corvette. But the only thing that sort of bugs me is that they have the '94-95 center cap. It has the 1991-1996 Corvette emblem on it, not the 1984-1990 emblem. I'd prefer the right emblem. So I can put the center caps from my stock wheels on, but they are a polished-type finish. Which do you prefer:

Current wheel with the (wrong) 1991-96 emblem:

Wheel with the 1984-1990 emblem:

There are also other choices, in 1984-85 they had a black center cap with the same emblem, and 1987 had a dark grey center cap with that emblem. I think the dark grey might look better than the polished look, but I still doubt it would match the wheel color.

Well, I think the 1987 center cap might be worth a try. They are a bit darker than the wheel, but maybe not too bad. Here's the 1987 one next to the current 1991+ one that matches the wheel finish:

The only thing is they are $40 a pop from Mid America if I don't like how they look. Anyone know the GM part number for the 1987 center cap? Maybe I can see one locally for free at the dealer...

84-90. The other one reminds me of the CE emblem. (Not that there's anything wrong with that)

I don't like the black. I think the red with the white looks better.
:w

The 91-96 cap blends better w/ the wheel and only a select few would ever be able to tell that it is for a different year. Just my .02

Honestly, I couldn't tell the difference and had to go back and forth a few times.

Like Jeff, I think the '91-96 blends in better with the wheel.

I'll go with whatevet Jeff & Edmond say :) These guys have excellent taste for Corvette

Definitely Jeff but I don't know about me!:L:L:L

Selim's taste is most excellent as well. Just look at that pic! :D

I voted '84 - '90. it looks better IMHO

I voted for the 91-96 Emblem and here is my reasoning. Yes, it is technically wrong but like was mentioned earlier only a very very select few would know that. What most people who are anal about their cars WILL notice is the mismatch finish... I would. Matching is better in the long run more people I think would notice the mismatch finish discrepancy more than the wrong year discrepancy. My 2 cents!

I have a 95 with 2002 wheels on it. I'm way off ;LOL

95 with C5-2002 wheels

Yea my five spokes are different also. :D

I agree with Dawn. The matching of the cap with the wheel makes it less noticeable. Although I do like the 84-90 emblem with the red instead of the black.

do you have a far off pic of the car? the close up of the wheel is one thing, but if the center caps draw your attention from 10 feet away it usually makes things look like crap. I think both look fine on the wheels, and actually like the contrast of the machine finish against the painted silver of the 'correct' cap, but I have a feeling that from 10 feet it won't flow right.

Well, the picture is a photochop. I'll put them on when I pull the wheels to clean them and the wheelwells, hopefully this weekend. I'll see how I like them, and take some picts. I think I won't like how it mismatches, though. But I would like to have the correct emblem for the car... :(

Dang, good photochop:) I usually notice right away, but didn't at all this time.

I'm not sure if you considered getting caps off an 84-85 or 87 and paint them to match. I am sure you can get a cheap set from eBay or a corvette salvage yard and just take your time painting them.

Yeah, that's a good idea. I think the '87 would be the best bet, though if I paint them it could be any (though I don't want to paint my originals). They have a clear substance that I assume is paint over the colored paint, though. So it might look a little weird to paint over that.

As an aside, it seems like GM must have cracked down on folks using the 'vette logo on wheel caps. I've seen some from places like AFS with the checkered pattern, and then very small crossed flags where the bow-tie would go. I've also seen ones where the checkered pattern goes all the way across with no bow-tie or red/black field. The look Corvetteish but are clearly not correct when you look close.
