My 406, soon to be 409, is going back together this week and will be reinstalled in the car soon. I could not get poly engine mounts 'back when', but.......

Which engine mounts will fit this SBC in my '84? I see 'tall' and short' polys.

Thanks, U experts.

NE one?

Jim @ TPIS said they have 'inserts', PN 80-059 for $25, but I could not find them on their site.:eyerole

Motor mounts... not your average car conversation. Except when one breaks. :(

Maybe get in touch with Lingenfelter??? 1.260.724.2552

They do not show them, nor does any other site I visited.

I thought it nice that Energy Suspension offered me a 'test mule' deal, to prototype mounts for the early C-4s.

TPIS's owner was less than helpful; terse at best, when I tried to order per a prior chat. Not a good way to treat repeat customers, IMHO.

Anyone know a non-solid, poly replacement or a PN I can 'cross'? Thanks, guys.

Would the shorts be for the early smallblocks , like in the 60s? Somewhere in the 70s the motormounts were changed I believe.

i'm surprised TPiS didn't want to charge you 75 bucks for poly mounts :L

but here is what I found

The Perfect Alternative to Solid Metal Mounts.
The first and only polyurethane motor mount available with a safety interlock to effectively control high horsepower and torque. They're virtually indestructible, and impervious to oils and chemicals, yet as smooth running as stock originals. Chrome or Zinc Plated. 1/pkg.

Colors Available:
Indicated by one of the following letters at the end of each part number.
  • (G)=Black
  • (R)=Red
  • (B)=Blue
  • (Y)=Yellow

my guess either the 1973-1998 3 or 4 bolt located in the first section.

hope this helps :)

If Energy Suspension offered you a "deal" to prototype early C4 powertrain mounts, then I'd remove the stock mounts and send them to Energy Suspesnion and have them start by duplicating the stock mounts in urethane.

Remember the C4 powertrain uses a four point mounting, two at the engine and two more at the rear axle. If you go urethane in front you probably need to do it in the rear, too.

Thanks, Mad-Guy. I called JEGs, whom I have not bought from before, and Dave said to use inserts for the stock mounts, which get the rivets drilled out; then the poly inserts bolted in. They claim these are clamshell design, which I cannot concur with. These mounts look like every other Chevy motor mount I've ever seen or the past 30 years.

The dang parts AND Car are 200 miles away or I'd have done this already.

There is no rubber in the suspension on my car, except perhaps, the 'batwing' to frame mounts at the rear. Are these the other two you refer to?

I referred to some jpg files of a Vette parts manual to get a part number to cross. No luck. Oh, what fun.............
