I'll try to explain this as best i can.going to work the other day 20miles out it dies,I turn back heading home half way home it dies again,it runs fine too when i get started back up.Ok now I havent driven it again since. But when i go out to try to figure out my prob. i hear this whining noise from the front end.Oil level and pressure is fine.Water level and temp good.So i took my belt off the noise is gone and yes i only run for about ten seconds with no belt on.So this is my prob, where do i start, which pulley or what is making this noise.I have good voltage too.Can anyone help

How many miles on the car?

If you don't have a mechanic's stethoscope, you can use a socket extension or a screwdriver to listen to various components for that whine. That is, of course, assuming all the things that spin, spin freely. I heard a whining noise, some years ago, and have replaced the water pump, the alternator and the belt tensioner.

The quitting may be a fuel problem, like the filter clogging or the pump is going. Neither whine, but there may be more than one issue.:w
