Who Has A Deposit on A C6???

Remo said:
I'd be interested in knowing how much of a deposit was required. It's becoming evident that different dealers have different amounts. My dealer, Colonial Chevrolet in Fitchburg Mass., asked for $10K. When I looked over my glasses at him in distain - he said "well in you case Remo, since you bought one from us and we know you, $500. will do it". I'm beginning to think there's no formula - most dealers just make judgments.

It'll be a cold day in hell before I'd give a dealer any deposit on a C6 even if I wanted one right now. Are they afraid the aren't going to sell them for a while...not likely.

Let's get real. It's called "floating your money".

I have a deposit for a Daytona Sunset Orange black top and black interior convertible. The option are 1SB package Z51 Performance Package QG7 Polished Wheels. Since 6-speed is standard I don't include it in the options.

Ok, let's get real, like in I really want a C6, and I want it ASAP. About a year and a half ago, I told my dealership sales manager I was interested in the new upcoming Vette, He said, ok, I'll put you name on our list. I was number 4.....about 3 months ago, he called and said the owner of the dealership requiresa a $1,000 deposit to separate the tire kickers from serious buyers....I thought about it, and agreed (deposit fully refundable, no questions asked). That eliminated some people, so I moved up to #2 on the order list. The lady ahead of me wants to wait for a convertible...ok, I now move up to #1, and now have a vehicle order number. If I "got real" and didn't put up a deposit, I'd now be #200 or so on the order list!!! So, irregardless of the temperature in hell, my plan to get an early C6 is working as I expected.....and I'm happier than a kid in a candy store with a $1,000 gift certificate! :) :)

Hi shopman1,
Now I know what I put the rest of the CAC thru when I was waiting fo my 2003 Vette. I put a deposit on a 2003 down in 2000. I wanted one, period. Ok, I'll admit to "mid-life crisis", but the 2003 50th model year was something my Mom taught my. If you wait, if you work, if you save, it will come. Also, growing up a "poor boy", I believed I earned one now. And I still believe that every time I drive the Vette. Anyway, the 50th model year only comes around once.
Sorry for the slight rant. My Vette is made to what I wanted. In this "mass production" world, The Vette is the closest thing to "custom made" I'll ever get.
So, if you are in line for a 2005 Vette, my only word of advice......enjoy.

Just Got a Build ID

Received a calll from my salesman yesterday, he gave me a build ID for my Vette. Said that it could come in as early as the end of July. I will not count on that however if it happens I would be very happy. No prices as yet.

Early C6'ers

Any of you planning to drive your new C6's to Corvettes @ Carlisle in late August. If yes - you guys will be the "center of attraction".

Wayne,

For the record - I'm not getting a new C6 this year. I was just using this thread to find out if anyone was going to bring one to Carlisle - besides GM. My plan is to give the C6 a full production year and purchase a convertible in 2006. I can wait - at my age patience is not an issue.

I decided to buy a 2004 'vert Torch Red.(traded in my Z06)
I think the new c6's will cost too much.
Bill.

Opps!

Sorry bout' that Remo. I probably should do the same thing, but I just can't stand the wait....!
