B/Stock,

Too bad indeed. Hope your government is not __ing away all that money. I, personally, don't agree with how this government spends, I'd rather have less services--starting with traffic enforcement.

I am hoping to get a convertible one but there are many factors to consider in my case.First of all I will have to part with my 92,which won't be easy because I haven't been able to do it until now.Price will be a big factor also.Up here in Canada we pay 15% sales tax on a new vehicle and that is hard to swallow. If I were to buy a used one from a past owner I would pay only one tax...Last but not least it's the entire price of the Vette. If I were to purchase one in the very near futur I might have to finance it and I have never bought a car by making monthly installments.I don't know if I'm ready to worry about payments through the winter when my brand new shiny corvette is sleeping in a garage. It just sounds peculiar to me.I'm used to making monthly payments for my real estate, not my car!!....Maybe by summertime I'll get over this monthly thing and buy one :) I hope so anyway!!

better off waiting

After seeing how gm plays the upgrade game.I think it would be best to wait and see what all the new models plus zo6 will bring to the table. To be honest i think that since the c6 is so close to the c5 it maybe several years before we see all the realy good cards for the c6.

Not to mention that they're expecting a short run for the C6 right? I was thinking that enough C5 owners will want to unload their C5's to get the C6's so I could get a used C5 for a nice deal. At least that's what I'm hoping for.

I am most definately getting a C6. I sold my C5 (see corvette ownership to the left) when I heard I was to be stationed in Korea with a follow on assignment to Italy (4 years total time). Didn't want to store the C5 and be making payments. SO I sold it (worst decision I ever made, broke my heart) but put all the $$$ into a fund that is doing rather well. I am set to now buy a C6 and plan on doing so when I leave Italy in about 6 months. Guess I'll order one with the options and colors that I want. It's a 100% definate that I'll buy one.

What's the best way to order and get it at MSRP???

Contact me by email.:)

i wish i could get a c6 i was real nervous at the looks of it before but now that ive seen the new pics its awesome. Im 17 so maybe when im like 40. Ive got a 97 now im not doing too bad. =)

If only...

Waiting for the rumored ZL1.

Even if it costs 500.000$.

I intend to get one. I haven't decided upon the color.

I would go for the C6 if it wasn't for the taxes. When I purchased my C5 I paid $3,780 state sales tax, $1,080 fed luxury tax, and to the town I live $2,262 property tax paid the first year and $42 per thousand valuation each and every year after. Total for the first year, $7,122 in taxes. So if I got a C6 for 60k I would be looking at $4,200 sales tax and $2520 property tax for a total of $6,720 the first year. A least no luxury tax.
I just will not pay those kind of taxes again on a car and watch the moneys I pay in taxes get pizzed away. If I want to spice the C5 up a bit I will put the $$$ in mods not taxes. Too bad it has to be this way. The C6 looks beautiful.

That's one reason why I will never move back to R.I. I was born there, grew up there, and joined the Army to get as far away from there as possible.
I own two houses, one in Alabama, and another in TN, my Z06, a 2001 Town and country, and two S-10 Pickups.... my total taxes for everything is less than your town property tax paid the first year. I feel for ya.
Move South, sell your snow blower, buy a boat, and get a C-6 of your choosing. Oh yeah, did I mention that you can probably supersize your house with the prices down here.

Highly unlikely:( As we just bought our 2002 on Dec. 31, 2002 (and loving every minute with it since then!), we're not looking to get a C6, especially if it bears a close resemblance to the C5's!!;) We've been saying that we'll more than likely keep our Grand Sport and the '02 forever...but then we've been known to change our minds! :L

Do you pay any income tax in RI ? If so, maybe that's the difference in why you have so much "consumption" type-tax compared to the others.

Love my '02 Z06! So far no problems. 24 months old with 6500 miles. May wait till '07 for C6 Z06- never liked getting 1st year of a new model. There are always gremlins. Can't wait to see what the C6 looks like. Happy Holidays to all at CAC.

2006 - Z06

My plan is to purchase a 2006 Z06. By that time my 01 vert should have just under 20K on the clock and still be a desirable car.

Oh, do we pay income taxes in RI. We have a state piggy back tax thats about 25% of our federal income tax. RI is one of the most highly taxed states in the nation.

I couldn't wait another 9 or 10 months, so I just bought a brand new 2003 C2 (Porsche Carrera that is).

Are you ready for this:

I've been letting my wife drive the Porsche for the last couple of weeks and she loves it. I then showed her a picture of the C6 this past weekend and asked if she wanted one and she said yes (she swolled the bait, hook, line and sinker).

Actually, I think she's really tired of the family trucksters she's been driving for the last ten years.

Holly cow, two kick a** sports cars in the family at once, this will be a dream come true.

You should've got it in writing so when it comes time to pick it up, she can't say, "I don't remember saying yes to this...":L:L:L

I will be getting another Vette next year haven't made up my mind on either a c3 C5 or a C6. It is great to be single, sucks to have only a two car Garage. :cool

happy with my 81

I'm very content with my 81.I like the fact that I can make repairs myself rather than taking it to the dealer for every problem.
Anyway,Lori and I are planning on building a new home within the next 3-4 years. All our pennies are going into that plan.

c6 vs c5

I just bought a 2004 base coupe. The C6 is a gamble. How reliable will it be? Would like to wait and see if it will have any reliability/performance issues. Also great time to buy a C5 prices are discounted. I like the idea of owning the last year of c5 production. If I like the C6 I'll be ready to trade or sell my 04 when prices come down.

Starting to Love the C6!!!!!!!!!!

At the beginning l was a little taken back by the C6, but now l just love it.

The smart thing to do is to wait one year until the big block comes out and then go for it.

This will free up a lot of C5's and the price's will drop to the point where l will have no other choice but to step out and grab one.

The C4's will not be influenced by the C5''s and will hold there present value, thank the lord.
