I want to go a little taller/wider than the standard 225 70/15's when I buy my redlines, but I was wondering if there would be a clearance issue...

You should be able to go with 255/60 15's without a rub.

Maybe so, but I don't care for the "low profile" look of the 60 series, I like the chunkier looking 70's.

70% of 235 or 60% of 255... perrty much the same profile dude.

I rin 255/60 15's. Check out sig and this pic:

I guess you're right, I just don't want to order the wrong size, and have to deal with a return...what about going even taller in the 60 series...say a 265? it looks like you have room from the looks of your picture.

Yeh I run 255/60 R15's on my 74. No problems. Fills out great. :w

Hey 74 bigblock, you have the same tires as me. They hook pretty good at the track, even launching with nitrous :)

the 1st number (255) is the width... the second number is the percentage of the width as hight (sidewall). The third number is the diameter of the wheel size. You can't go more than 255 without moving the E-brake linkage. You also might rub the front fender when you turn the wheel to lock in either direction.

Yeah I was very happy with mine at the track... very little wheel spin. Good on the street too! I got caught in the rain once... very good wet traction.

FYI: Tire Size Calculator

Check out the tire size calculator at this site: http://www.powerdog.com/tiresize.cgi

You can add more than one to compare sizes of various tires and it will give you approximate speedo changes as well. This is on of a few that I've come across.
It's great for changing rim size but maintaining overall size.
Cheers.
