will 98 seatbelts fit an 88 c-4?

I've got a line on some used but good seatbelts to replace my 1988 "floppy" ones that will not stay tight against me when in use. Does anyone know one way or another if seatbelts are generic?

Yep,I did that last year.I could only get one replaced because ,for what ever reason,they discontinued production of the saddle seatbelts.Lucily the only one they had was the pass side,the one that I had problems with.I was surprised that the dealer wanted to help me but it was explained to me that basically its free money for them and its a safety recall ,which means its high priority.

new belts was not good

Paintdaddy was there any differens on the new ones?

I bought new belts (GM) last year and the new doesn´t stay tight against me when in use . :confused

The only difference that I noticed was that the "cinch "button was stamped in orange letters instead of white.Which tells me that the seatbelts must be the same as the 90 -up seatbelts because thats when all of the interior signage and lettering changed to orange.Part of the recall was because the seatbelts dont retract and thats why they loose around your chest.Thats why I finally had the recall done .I couldnt put my daughters car seat in because the seatbelt wouldnt retract.

The car was bought new in Santa Monica.

Do you know where i can find anything on this recall that i can show my chevy dealer? Recall number or something?

Try the knowledge base here on cac or I think there is something on alldata.com.Either way the dealer should have something on it already.Trust me they will be eager to help you.recalls are free money from the general.

Hey I didnt know that.Maybe thats why they only replaced my pass side.The guy told me that the other side was discontinued.Oh well ,whats done is done.
