As the title ask, will a turbo 400 fit in a C2? If not what would it take to put it in? Not interested in going to a late model overdrive.

Thanks for any info.

Yes. It is tight though. I fabricated my own shifter and linkage using shifter pieces from a 73 (I think). I still have to complete the 'detent' plate (the part that the little tab on the shifter fits into when the shifter is in the right position. Ecklers has a replacement shifter plate for the console that shows the Turbo 400 shift pattern.

Steve,

What did you do for the tranny mount?

Thanks for the info.

Chuck

Chuck - I don't really recall. I have it up on my lift so I will check it tonight when I get home and let you know. I am thinking it was a standard Turbo 400 trans mount from a C3. Not sure though as I installed the engine/trans on the chassis about 10 years ago.

On hold until tomorrow.

I finally got under the car a few minutes ago and found that, for the transmission mount, I used a rubber pad that has several layers of cord inpregnated in it between the transmission and crossmember. It is between 3/8" and 1/2" thick. I drilled some new access holes for the bolts since the mounting bolt holes are not in the same place.

It all seems to be holding up fine.
