I have a chance to buy a set of almost new Yokahama tires on a beautiful set of polished spoked rims. They were on a Firebird, and have the correct backspacing for my 86 Vette.

The question is: I currrently have 255x50x16's on the car and the new tires would be 245x50x16's. Would the 10 mm width make a real difference???

The set originally cost $1700, is 3 months old and the guy wants $900 for the set...they are pretty, but I am not sure they will work on my car...thanks

The tire size difference is hardly anything. later C4's go from 275 to 285 series tires with no problems at all, and i have even seen 275 to 315's. the main thing to look at is the backspacing, and it looks like you have that covered

That's kind of what I thought....according to a online tire calculator, the tire diameter difference is minimal, and I was mostly concerned with that....did not what to screw up the speedo...
thanks

I got a set of 255/50/16's I can make you a better deal on...they are Firestone SZ's with just under 3000 miles on them. They look brand new....never raced or abused. Drop an email if interested.
