Window Problems - Intermittent

I have an '02 C5 Coupe and am having a problem with my side windows. The driver's window will only rarely roll down, and occasionally the passenger's window will not roll down (from either switch). I can hear something clicking (very, very low sound only audible when sitting still with no stereo or fan running) in the dash or door and the lights dim slightly when I push the switch. I had this problem while it was under warranty and they replaced switch, motor, and regulator, but since they work intermittently, I wonder if any of the components are really faulty. Has anyone had this problem? Any suggestions for fixing it? Thanks.

First off, Welcome aboard! Not sure if this is the same exact issue, but you might check the wire loom where it runs through the door into the cowl area. Those wires can get crimped and cause problems very similar to what you are describing. Hopefully you can find something there.

I'll take a look

Thanks, Tom, I'll take a look at that and see if there is any binding or crimping.

I bet the relays in the door modules are bad. Common problem for Vettes that don't get driven often or who's windows are not used often enough.

Window Mystery continues

Sorry to take a while to get back - I really appreciate the tips. I have not been able to get to the relays (not sure even where they are), but the window has started working again - at least it did the last time I drove it. If anyone can tell me where the relays are, I would be grateful.

Thanks again for the help!

The relays are inside that black box with all the wire harnesses going to it.

They have to be desoldered from the circuit board and the new ones soldered to it. If you do some Internet searches, I'm sure you'll locate a thread with step by step instructions.

Relay location

Thanks, Junkman. The window started working again, so I think that I'll just make sure that I operate it at least weekly. I'll wait until it stops again to take it apart.
