I just want to express my appreciation across the board. Here's my story.
I'm now on my 3d C5. Had a white 1997 coupe. White isn't my color so in 1999 I replaced it with a torch red. Then in 2001, I found a deal on a 2001 torch red convertible I couldn't pass up.
In the time I've owned the convertible, there have been 2 other times that my right window in the down position wouldn't close. I cleared the problem by clearing codes. Two weeks ago the problem happened again but this time the window was up and wouldn't come down. I found a single IPC code and cleared it and the window worked. Then last week it happened again, but there were no codes to clear. After checking a number of things, I decided a shop would have to work on it. I arranged to bring it in next week.
This weekend, while on a vacation it turned over 50K miles and the passenger front turn signal went out. Then as I entered my garage coming home from my trip, the driver's side headlight actuator started making a gear stripped sound. By that time I was figuring that 50K was the magic number.
From this forum, I learned how to change the turn signal bulb from the top. It took me less than 10 minutes. I got 2 bulbs for $5.77 at the local parts store. After I made sure the signal was working right, I tried the passenger window for the 25th time and it too was working. (I have no idea why). And from the forum I have a lead on and have ordered a metal replacement gear for the headlight actuator and I've also got detailed instructions to install it.
And to top it off, this is my first day using the forum.
Thanks to all of you.
