It's time for me to again seek help :(

On my 69 vert I have the top windshield molding that has a space (that I'm hoping my pics will show). It's not that it's a 2 inch gap, but it bugs me! :mad

Ok, on to my real problem. I took the interior trim off (as shown in the pics) and I have no idea what to do next. I don't know what part should be removed before which, in what order, etc. The inner stainless piece is moving, but not much. I really don't feel like ripping something off that should gently be lifted... A lot of this stuff hasn't moved in 35 years, so it tends to be pretty grimy and pretty sticky, I hate to hear "SNAP" when I try to receive these kinds of pieces.

I assume since some of you have removed all this junk to get to the birdcage, someone will understand my dilemma and have an answer.

Thanks.

Sly

try to e-mail Chris(mcspeed) he seems to have alot of knowledge
with those early years.

I'm not positive what exactly you're trying to remove...but I assume it's that whole assembly trim. I have an 81 that's not a convertabile, but I think some of this might help.
1) Check for screws in the weatherstripping near the top corners of the windshield. They can be hidden in there pretty well.

2) Remove the outer window molding. You might be able to just snap it up with your fingers, however, they make a special tool to release those clips. Once you have those removed, you will probably see more screws there holding something in. I found it impossible to remove them as the windshield was in the way. But maybe a small right angle screwdriver would work.

3) I think you need to remove the corner moldings that hold the top down on the windshield. Again, those screws are hidden and there's probably a screw coming in from the outside molding as I was describing in #2.

I hope this helps some. Again, I have an 81, but I think some of this should still apply to you as well! Good luck & let me know how it goes!
