Why? It's fiberglass and won't rust, and I drive it every day so a car cover would be a PITA!
If I was worried about it I would pull it into the garage! However, its just a C4 and I bought it to be my daily beater!
Mike

Not true, Mike. At least I haven't found mine to be a PITA. It takes me no more than 2 minutes to take it off and roll it up, and I consider that to be two minutes well spent for the protection to the water-proof protection it offers.

Just my $0.02.

That is two minute too long. It is just a CAR! If it leaks and or needs to be coddled I will move on to something better. I don't even warm mine up unless I have to scrape the windows and that only takes a few seconds!

I don't get what the big deal is, if this was a 95 Impala you guys would not sweat it. However, the engine and tranny are the same as the Impala.
I don't pound on it when it is cold, however, I don't sweat driving it 15 to 20 MPH for a couple of miles while it is cold.

Being outside has not seemed to hurt its looks, pic is from about 5 minutes ago and shows my winter preps,(installed hard top, oil change, tranny filter change w/synthetic ATF, Power steering flush, brake fluid flush and new wiper blades). I guess some people drive and others wax. Good day!

No offense

Hey Mike

Just a car??? Oh my! ;)

I don't think any of the guys intended any offense. It's just that most of the enthusiasts around here cover or garage their Vettes when they're not driving them. :upthumbs Afterall, they're the object of much passion and many of us waited a long time to have one.

And most of them are waxers AND drivers! It's all good!

I wanted a 95 or 96 Impala SS however, nice C4s are much cheaper than a nice Impala SS so I settled for the cheaper option.

Mike

Bet you have a nice set of tire chains for the real bad days. But the fact is it's your car and you may do as you wish with it.

Wow. Just wow. ;LOL Hopefully you'll be able to afford a nice Impala one day. Good luck to you!

I don't believe that I will be able to get a nice Impala SS. They are desireable cars and Impala owners seem to keep the nice ones. I wish Chevy would import the Caprice LTZ from Holden. I had one for a few months in the gulf and it would cruise in excess of 150 with six guys in the car and of our op gear. The way things are going I see myself stuck in a C5 someday!

With the auto and the ASR I have not found the need for chains! With the low center of gravity and good weight distribution it has been pretty good in the ice and snow. I actually traded my wife's 5.9 RT with full time 4wd for this car last winter and I have not missed the 4wd at all.

It's supposed to snow Saturday through Tuesday! Here's a picture from this spring!

wildbill,
Thanks for the video clips. Those were wild! Any idea where the first one was from?

Yeah, that'd be awful, Mike. Don't throw me in that briar-patch, please. :ugh

Oh, wait, I'm already in that brair patch. :W

If you don't mind my asking, how much did the hard top for your '96 set you back? Seems like an awful big expense for "just another car." ;)
