The problem is worse now, but has always existed, since I bought the car in 1985.

My wipers run into each other, not every time, but often enough. The '84 Helm's refers to a body manual; the '87 refers to diagram 10-54, but leaves me scratching my head. I don't see the adjustment they refer to.

Guys? Gals? Thanks.

Mike, unfortunately during the last software upgrade, we have temporarily shut down our Knowledgebase:
Please be advised, the Corvette Action Center Knowledgebase is currently offline. We are working to rectify the situation as quickly as possible. Please check back later.
I know that many of the magazines (Corvette Fever, Vette, and any others that were around when the C4 was king) have done articles on the proper adjustment for the windshield wipers on our cars, but I'm just not able to point you directly to the correct issue.My suggestion is to look through the online archives of both CF and Vette magazines. I know they've done an article on it not too very long ago, sometime since they started keeping the electronic version of their records available online. So, it should be available through a quick search of their Tech articles. :CAC

I got my up dated wiper arms and blades from G M Be prepaired to spent 100.00 bucks.
The up grade is better but not perfect.

Had the same problem w/ mine since I bought it. Had the dealer look at it and he said they were in perfect adjustment. Yeah right!
Went through windshield wiper replacement hell a couple of weeks ago during a rainy spell we had. Car calls for 20" blades but after a few attempts I wound up going w/ 18" Bosch wiper arms and problem solved. Of course there is a negative... never fails...the wiper arms don't fit under the hood like the originals. Almost but not completely. Well at least the "swordfighting is over!"

Hey Whale...if the Knowledge base is still down, I'll reprint Article 79 which deals with windshield wiper adjustment for 84-96 vettes. The article comes from retired engr Jerry Watts...here goes;
"At the bottom edge of teh windshield, driver's side, is a black screen with a small pop-off screen about 1" x 2.5" towards the inside edge. Find its two solid black spots and gently push in and up with the scredriver to remove it. On each wiper arm you will see two 10mm nuts. To make the adjustment, dampen the windshield and turn the wipers on just long enough to get them to where you can move them up or down, then loosen the nuts with the 10mm socket. On the driver's side, the wiper should come up to, but not into, the blackout area along the windshield's edge, on the passenger side, about two inches from the molding and below hood level in the rest position." I followed these instruction and corrected my problem...unfortunately the damage has been done...minor scratching of the passenger side windshield. I'm going to try a clay bar and see if I can get some of it out. Good luck with your project.

Thanks Jon. I rooted about and found this exact link, which is identical verbiage to what Rufus painstakingly typed.

I hope to do this adjustment tomorrow, after chasing about today. At least the gel superglue is holding the arm parts together (so far).

My kind of fix

To think that I lived with this for so many years.:eyerole Well, it was intermittant and it really doesn't rain here all that much; plus, the car is no longer a daily driver.

Thanks to all, especially Rufus, for typing so much and to Ken, for the link. :beer I love fixes that are effective, quick, and simple. Then again, most fixes are such when properly researched.

The other plastic piece, the attach point between the wiper arm and the blade holder broke at the pin. The glue still holds and my fingers don't! :gap

Beaucoup denadas!
