I put an L88 hood on my 68 which means I did away with the wiper door. My question relates to the wiper door relay under the dash that a two-wire connector connects to. (brown & black). If I no longer have a door, do I need the relay? If I don't need the relay, do I just leave the connector alone or do I jumper it to close the loop?

Thanks

Don't fix what ain't broken! It will probably blow a fuse.

hmmm... thanks for that, but it really doesnt answer my questions.

Hey would you be interested in selling the relay?if so let me know If it is the one Im thinking of I could use a good one.

If I could get someone to answer my questions and if I end up not needing it, sure. Those are expensive little things for some reason... I do know that much!

You speak as if you dont need it because of the l88 hood. There is a short version(original version)and a long version. You do have the long version correct.Im not sure about removing it but I would think as long as all of the wiper door linkage and guts are removed, you will be fine

Hey PaintDaddy,

I contacted Wilcox Corvette up in Indiana and they told me that this part is actually called a "Tach Solenoid". I have no idea why GM named that part like that being that it has nothing to do with the tach. Anyway... they also said this part is one of the most rare to find being that no one makes them anymore. They sold one some time back for $250. Out of curiosity, I looked on Ecklers sight, and they don't even list the part.

I don't know how much you're wanting to shell out, but I know now that I will definitely not need it. They said that since I don't have a wiper door anymore, all I need to do is jumper the brown & black wire together that originally plugged into the solenoid.

Thanks for the heads up on the price .Ive got one maybe two of these but one I dont think is useable and the other is in ok shape but it would be nice to have a good one.Im not going to beat you down on price. You could probably get more out of it than I can afford at this time.If you list on ebay you should get half or maybe a little more than the cost of what a new one would bring if there were any.I dont remember what I paid for mine but I do remember it was very hard to find. When I get to the point of actually needing one Ill look you up on this thread and see if you still have it,thanks.
