Wipers for 1969 - is quick diagnosis possible?

Hi:w
I've used the Search and found loads of info about wiper motors - But can someone isolate my problem with the following info:
Wiper door opens OK
Wipers don't work
I hear a "click" when I move the wiper switch to the "On" position and when I push them in to the "wash" position.
There is NO draw on the ampmeter.

I'm not electrically minded but I'm sure all this means something or maybe it doesn't:L

BTW, this is for the '69 but coinsidentially, I also have problems on the '67 wipers - they don't stop when you pull the switch out.

Definitely sounds like a switch or wiring. I'd check the electrical switch that is activated when the wiper door opens and make sure it is adjusted and working properly. If you don't have any electricity there, then I'd check the switch on the dash. Also, check the wiper motor and make sure the wires are connected and have current. If you have current at the wiper motor; it may be the problem.

Check the limit switch at the pass. side door linkage - it kills power to the wiper motor unless the door is fully open; it may be out of adjustment/stuck/dead.

Update to all, the F***** wipers still don't work. Headed out tomorrow AM for a 325 mile trip and rain is in the forecast for the AM - I hope the Rain X does a good job. Thanks to all for your input and I'll look into it again after return home.

Hey, TwinRay -

Any luck yet? I have the same problem on my 69. Hope we can get a common solution. Like you, I'm very good in all areas mechanically, but the electrical side never clicked so good for me
:(

could be a bad ground at the switch have also seen the switch plugged in backwards might be worth a look steve :beer :w

Steve and Ernie,

While I never give up on fixing a problem & never had to resort to bring a car to a mechanic for something I couldn't eventially handle, I have to say this wiper problem is a SOAB:r :bang
I made my 325 mile trip to Watkins Glen last Thursday morning at 4am IN THE RAIN with all my thanks to Rain X on the windshield. Thankfully after an hour or so, it stopped raining. I have a troubleshooting chart on steps to follow, but have other issues to deal with - especially a steering wheel that refuses to return to center, power steering that still is leaking (is it the new pump or a connection?) and an auto transmission pan leak (maybe it's time to put those 2 heli-coils in). I started to take the P/S dash off to look at the back of the switch but ran out of time before the trip. Regards,
Fred:w
