I just replaced the windshield wiper switch on my '84 Vette because it felt a little squishy and the "delay" function has not worked for a long time. Also, the wiper would not stop after turning them on. For a while, I would slowly move the switch between the "off" position and the "delay" position just where there is a bump in the operation... this would stop the wipers until recently. I just replaced the old switch with a new one from AutoZone. It solved no problems but the "squishy" part... hmmm...

Also, I installed a new wiper motor just a few months ago which had no effect on the aformentioned operation (motor was burned out - new one "works" just fine). The new motor was just a new motor... not the pump or other stuff there.

Any ideas guys?

You didn't replace the complete assembly only the motor? If not there is a switching assembly that is most likely bad.If I remember correctly there is a cam and contact switches on the wiper assembly. The function is that it supplys power to motor till the wipers come to the rest position, then shuts off the power.

Funny, I just finished washing my hands from installing a wiper motor assy. There is a "park" switch that goes bad which is not part of the motor, its on the circuit bd. under the small black cover.

I also thought it was the actual wiper control switch on the inner door. I bought the entire wiper motor assy. on ebay for $12.00. I was just looking at an assy. on ebay, $9.99 and $10.00 to ship. This will take care of the wipers not stopping once the wipers blades are turned off. Too bad we can't just buy the park switch, that wold be too easy.

Good Luck
