coming home yesterday suddenly the car wouldn't shift into any gear. was able to put in 2 gear with the engine off then start the car. limped home and found that 1 of the bolts worked its way out of the slave cylinder. so I fixed that but now it won't go into first gear even with the engine off. Should I bleed the slave cylinder ?? or any other hints. 1985 4+3

:>)

OK fixed slave cylinder bled it and still won't go into first gear.. all other gears are ok. anybody have any suggestions ?? or do I just take it in and pay out the butt ??

I'm gonna ask the obvious here, and I hope you don't take offense, but have you checked the fluid level in both the master as well as the slave cylinders? Usually, when one goes bad you should change both out to save having to do the job twice; they usually wear out in about the same time frame. ;)

levels were good and the guy who works on what I can't on my car had it all day and said 1 of the previous owners put bolts that were bigger then the originals and the slave cylinder wasn't seated properly. He was gonna rethread the clutch housing but even then it wouldn't engage 1st gear. He says its sumthin internal. so there goes my tax return.

It's not unheard of for the gearbox to go bad, but it usually is the overdrive unit that gives you problems. The Super T-10 is a pretty reliable transmission, but like anything, it too can wear out. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.
