Renowned American Auto Icon Reeves Callaway Premieres Luxuriously Designed, Powerfully Performing Corvette Supercar for 2008 Spring Season in National Exotic Driving Experience
(March 27, 2008) - World Class Driving, purveyor of dreams for exotica enthusiasts, is proud to announce the addition of the renowned Callaway Corvette C16 Coupe to their incredible fleet of coveted super-powered automobiles. The highly-anticipated introduction delivered by the Callaway Team presents the opportunity for participants in World Class Driving’s unique driving program to experience the celebrated, distinguished brilliance of Reeves Callaway’s design by putting drivers behind the luxurious wheel of the innovative designer’s stunning 650-horsepower rocket-fast Corvette coupe.

"Callaway has always represented the best in American automotive design and crafted some of the most refined and beautiful Corvettes the world has ever seen. It is only natural that the Callaway C16 be the newest addition to World Class Driving’s notable fleet," comments World Class Driving Founder Jean Paul Libert. "Our goal in creating this exotic driving program was to offer participants the newest, most pristine supercars to command for one unforgettable day of driving and the entrance of the C16 perfectly promotes this exhilarating vision."

Available in spring 2008, World Class Driving presents the inimitable opportunity for program participants to experience the speedy Callaway Corvette C16 Coupe in its exclusive national driving program. For automotive enthusiasts there is no equal to Callaway’s time-honored commitment to blending paramount mechanical performance and unique innovation with outstanding power and superb styling. Callaway engineers and technicians continue to maintain the company’s renowned attention to detail and unrivaled devotion to incorporating the newest evolving technologies and engineering skill into each car they carefully manufacture. Every Callaway is instantly vested into a grand tradition of stirringly designed supercars and imbued with the passionate care that has helped usher Callaway Corvettes into the upper pantheon of the auto world.

Born out of Reeves Callaway’s brilliant design, the built-to-order C16 Coupe beautifully combines exhilarating performance with exclusive, customized parts, rendering an automobile that touches on driving perfection. The 8-cylinder, 6-liter supercharged engine produces 650 horsepower which pushes the illustriously-styled C16 Coupe from 0-60 mph in just 3.5 seconds. The C16 commands the pavement via a 6-speed automatic transmission with 550 lb-ft of torque, and double adjustable machined aluminum dampers for superior handling. The C16 boasts solid Le Mans brakes, ensuring stellar braking performance translating to increased driver confidence even under the most rigorous conditions.

Amazingly, this elevated level of performance is delivered without intruding on the comfortable interior appointments gracing the bespoke cabin, which can be customized with the purchasers’ 'Deutschleder' interior with specified leather colors, and carbon magnesium wheels, matching the advanced performance being let loose from beneath the hood. Framing the advanced engineering and muscle underneath, is a body of exquisite lines and contours that rockets the Callaway C16 into the upper realms of racing class all while delivering a unique supercar style.

The Callaway C16 Coupe represents the pinnacle in automobile craftsmanship and design, melding provocative lines, custom-made cabin accessories, and uncompromising performance into a luxury automobile that blurs the line between seductive indulgence and a thrilling driving experience.

Sad!...

Mine was supposed to be the first 2008 C16 being that my car has been sitting in Connecticut since August :mad

That sucks Luigi!!! Yours should be first!

But...uh... sooooooo.... where's some more pics of this yellow beauty? :dancenaughty

I just looked around their website and saw that they'll be in Dallas during October this year. Looks like I'll have to figure out where they are so I can spy on the C16 if they bring it along. :D

It'd be fun to participate in, but I don't want to be known as "that kid who had too much fun in the Ferrari 599 and took off with it" :L

Sign up for it, and have the time of your LIFE!!!!! :upthumbs

I'll see about it. I didn't find anything about age restrictions, but I'm sure there are some that I don't qualify for. I can't even rent a minivan or SUV from Enterprise because of my age, so it'd be surprising if I could drive something 10 times more expensive. :ohnoes

My new favorite C16? :eek Or the most annoying watermark ever?

I didn't know y'all had that same problem in the North. There aren't even very many trees where I live, but the flowers have made my Corolla pewter and my my windows brown. :ugh

If you get a chance... drive it like you stole it ;)

At least get some nicer pictures of it. I personally try to make
the copyright not intrusive to the pic.

Its a great looking car!

If they bring it here, and I happened to sign up for the program, you can count on that Luigi ;). It's an automatic, so it'd be easy to drive aggressively.

I'm still very much an amateur with a manual transmission. My left leg isn't used to doing any work, so some of the manual tranny cars would be granny driven by me until I got a hang of how their clutches work. :o

In my case, "don't stall when you should be moving." :ugh

I tried driving a Cadillac CTS at a GM track event a few years ago, and I could never get the car out of the parking lot! It was parked on a slight incline, the clutch was very light, and I couldn't manage to figure out at what point the transmission would engage and stop me from rolling backwards. I tried feeding it a bit of gas as I slowly let off (like I've done in my dad's Corvette) and it'd kill it every time in the CTS. All 6 or 7 times. ;squint:

I was very embarrassed... but I didn't have as big of a problem with the heavier clutch cars like the GTO and Corvette. I wish I knew what I was doing wrong... it's only from stops that I have trouble. The process of upshifting and downshifting is intuitive.

Brandon, heavy clutch or light clutch, it shouldn't matter.

The key is to find the point of engagement :lou

Here is a practice excercise. Go in a parking lot with a junker and depress the clutch, put it in gear and SLOWLY let off the clutch. The car, at the point of engagement, will begin to move. At this point, you do not need any gas, as it will begin to go forward. Gently add gas witht he "go" pedal and away you are :w

Thanks for the advice, I need to find a friend who will allow me to practice in a Volkswagen or Honda... My mom's Camaro SS is a bit highly powered for practice, and the clutch is expensive from my perspective.

What is your advice for when you're on an incline? Same method? No need to give it some gas? :confused
