Hello,

I'm looking for a reasonably priced (actually more like bargain priced) C4 in the New England area.

Ideally it would be an 85+ with 70k miles or less, for somewhere in the $6000 range, or even better. I am not picky about flaws obviously, but due to lack of time, tools, and mechanical ability I can't really take on a full project car. Feel free to post whatever you've got though.

I understand that this is a forum full of knowledgable people and you are all well aware of the value of your cars, so I don't mean to be insulting by looking for something cheap. I'm hoping that there is someone here that is looking to get rid of a nice car fast, and I would surely like to help.

Locally there was just one in the paper. 1985 Convert. with 30,000 miles, for $6000 even. Unfortunately when I called about it last night it was sold. Now I'm going corvette crazy and I want to find something!

Please feel free to post back here, or email me at josh@cvboyz.com with info. I am located in Northern, Vermont and am willing to travel 100-200 miles or so. Maybe further depending on the deal.

Thank you very much.

Josh,

Although I'd love to have you visit Corvette Mike New England (www.corvettemikenewengland.com) and buy something from me, I'm afraid we don't have anything like you want at this time!:)

However, I would be happy to send an email to all of the New England Corvette clubs asking them to forward your request to their members. It's quite possible you'll luck out and hear from someone.

By the way, do you have a preference...automatic or 4+3 transmission? My opinion? Go with the automatic. If you're not mechanically inclined, the 4+3 might present problems with a high mileage 85. On the other hand, it might not, but you never know.;)

Hi Elaine,

Thank you very much, and let me add that you folks have some beautiful cars on your site.

As for the transmission....What I really "want" is a six speed...haha, but that's a project for the future.

Actually I have no real preference over the auto or 4+3 but now that you mention it I will have to look into the ups and downs of each more closely. My mechanical abilities are not horrible, but I have a limited amount of tools at my disposal, and a pretty bare garage, so that hampers me quite a bit. I own motorcycles and other recreational vehicles and do most of the work on those myself, but it's much easier since you are dealing with smaller parts generaly.

Down the road I'd really like to look into putting a 6-speed in whatever I buy...but that could be years and years away. I had an IROC that I had owned for 7 years and always planned on putting a stick in it but always seemed to find other projects...haha.

I appreciate all of your help in my search. Thank you very much.

Josh,

I've forwarded your request to the New England Corvette clubs. Hopefully, you'll be hearing from one of them soon.

By the way, there were no convertibles in 1985 so maybe the one advertised in the paper was a coupe?

Let us know how your search progresses!

Elaine
