Anyone have or know of someone who has a used cat-back system for sale? Looking for a great deal. Thanks

Cajun

There are usually used systems for sale on the Corvette Forum parts for sale section http://www.corvetteforum.com/ ... also you should do a "search" on ebay http://www.ebay.com/ .. there seems to be a lot of C5 parts for sale thru them ... hope this helps ...

I have a barely used Borla with quad oval tips and very little to no resonance for $500 if you are interested. It has mufflers and is not nearly as loud as the "Stinger" system you might have heard about. It flows very well, however, and sounds great at WOT but will be very quiet at cruise.

Thank you

I can get a new stinger for $550 so I will have to pass on the offer, but I definitely appreciate you making it.

You're comparing apples to oranges. This isn't a Stinger - it has full mufflers and the retail on this system is hundreds more than Stinger.

May I ask, who sells a brand new Stinger for $550?

Those guys are really whoring those exhuasts out. Dang...I never understand why people do that.
Thanks.

Good for me

You are right and I hate it that some people have to pay too much or more than others. I posted that link on a thread so hopefully all can save some money. Take care

You totally missed my point. This company is ripping the profit out of these systems and making it difficult on other resellers who rely on profit to keep their business running. If the exhaust costs $525 (just an example, this is not the real cost) and they sell for $550, that is only $25 profit on the item. That won't even cover the cost to run the credit card transaction and the cost of doing business.

There are other companies in the Corvette community who do this to - we call it "whoring out" kind of like a product whore. They could be making a decent profit, but in order to steal sales away from others, they make next to nothing on it and lower the price to artificially low levels and deflate the value of the product.

Businesses are in business to make money, and these types of companies, who are usually short lived, make that hard.

You should consider things like service, time in business, and potential future support as other value added things when buying parts foryour car - not just price alone.

Kind of like Wal Mart huh?:L But you bring up a good point of customer relations. I do prefer to buy from one place consistently and being loyal to a place if they treat me right. I'm not going to haggle if the difference is negligible.

It looks like they "drop ship" directly from Borla so if you don't like the system, there are no returns and you're SOL. Am I right?

Redshift , don't be too supprised to find out that someone else is getting a better price from distributers than you . It's getting hard to trust anyone anymore . Cliff

Cliff, I doubt that is the issue. We are at pretty rock bottom with most of our lines...its just the other resellers having no morals or ethics. :)

I know what your saying, but from my personal point of view (when it comes to exhaust) or most non-electrical parts I am not that worried about service after the sale. I mean I can bolt an exhuast up and it is ready to go. The stinger that I get from Husker is the same as the one I get from anywhere else. If you got the paperwork you got the warranty (right?). This is of course purely a buyer's perspective. If I was trying to sell my used Stinger system I am sure that I would not be so happy that they are offering those prices. Good point! there are just many different points of view depending on ones position in the market. Have a great day

Of course. I fully understand this. I'm just saying that even from your perspective, paying more might be worth it even for a product you don't worry about warranty on. What if you want some personal advice regarding the sound levels on street and track? Or you have a very particular installation question? Sometimes it pays to pay more for something from a company that actually knows lots about what they are selling rather than just selling whatever they can get their hands on.

We personally test just about every product we sell and can provide expert level advice and help when the time comes. Some people want this kind of service and those of us who don't whore items out at right above cost provide it, and will be in business long after the whores are not :)

Redshift,

I see where you're coming from and I'd just like to tell you that there are plenty of us Vette' owners out there who buy from people like you. I'm not saying that to offend anyone, but since the prices on Vette' parts are pretty much in the same neighborhood, we're willing to pay more for more service. At least I am.

I personally don't like giving my money to places that "just whore out" products without regard for anything else. To me, there are three axis of evil in the retail world:

Home Depot
Wal Mart
Guitar Center

Enough ranting...
