well since im going with the melrose headers. should i get the whole melrose full exhaust system? if i do its gonna be x-pipes. now i want the meaniest sound and the most horsepower. now my plan was to first get the corsa exhaust system, then get the melrose headers. the corsa is straight pipes btw. or should i go with the melrose exhaust system? but if i go with the melrose exhaust system then im gonna need new mufflers. should i get the corsa mufflers for the melrose exhaust system? i say this because they say that it uses the factory mufflers. but i want something better than factory, so what do you think? i thought straight pipes would bring more horsepower since its going straight through. but i head that x- pipes baleneces back presure?? idk whats the difference. lol

:w duvalboy-

If you want to squeeze the most power out of the exhaust- then go with the longest length headers you can. Follow that with 2.5"- to 3" diameter pipes, high flow cats, and then finish it off with a free flow mufflers.

You can pretty much pick whatever manufacturer(s) for all of those you want- but the concept is pretty much the same when you go for those types of parts (long tubes, free flow, etc).

Have you thought about typing "melrose"+ "corvette" + "exhaust" into YouTube? That might be a good way to listen to different combination that people have before you buy. Then, you'll have the sound you want.

yea i have and they are both good. so i guess it comes down to having straight pipes or x-pipes?? some say x but i thought straight pipes would give more noise and power

Just a thought. The X-pipe will help balance the exhaust flow down each side. This will reduce the amount of popping at the tail pipes. On the other hand lots of guys like the good old "motor boat" sound out the back on decellaration.:cool

i would offer this little piece of advice .if your motor makes less than 450 rwhp please resist the thought of going to a 3in system . you will lose alot of low and mid range hp. i have 2 zr1s making 410-420 rwhp . the blk 90 has a 21/2 in dr gas system thats a little louder but is sized perfect and that car has run 12.10 @119.85 mph .the 92 has a 23/4 in system with21./2 dyno max super turbo muffler with dual exits and that car has gone 11.94@117.80 . if youd like to here both systems at the drag strip go to bradszr1 on ubtube and hit my favorites button and you can here what both systems sound like . you can have a good muffler shop build either of my systems for about 600 which is 1/2 of what a corsa system sells for . hope this helps. ps both systems have x pipes

ok sofor my 96 vette ill do this is my plan as of now. im getting the melrose long tube headers exhaust system like this:
http://www.melroseheaders.com/products/smooth_flow_exhaust_systems/c-4.php

and i could go with cheap mufflers but i want the best for the car cause its gonna be my car forever

so probally stick to the corsa..but has anyone heard about the loudmouth slp mufflers??

well does anyone have the melrose exhaust system? i have heard that they are having fitting problems, but i wanna know if anyone has them installed and if its worth having?? and if so what should i do with the mufflers?????

From my personal experience a Corsa catback sounds great with stock exaust manifolds. But, when I put SW headers on without cats it doesn't sound all that great. Talk to others who have the system you want. If it resonates at some cruising rpm's you may not like it. That's what originally turned me off on the B&B system.
