XM: Should I order my C6 Coupe with XM?

I am getting ready to order my C6 Coupe and have been debating over getting XM, it isn't the monthly cost but the unsitely black wart that will be on my new vehicle...what are your thoughts?

I had XM free for 3 months on my new 2004 Yukon I bought last year. It was nice while on vacation (my whole vacation consisted of a trip to Bowling Green and the Corvette factory and museum!!!!). But, I seldom used it except on the long road. I'm lucky to have a great FM station (digital even!) locally so I don't want it except on long trips. If I take another road trip I may order it just for one month for the trip but not other than that, nope. My 2 cents worth....

The antenna is an ugly afterthought like the front plate holder. And it requires a hole to be drilled in the roof I think. Bad idea. Everyone is talking about how the stock C6 exhaust is too quiet. What's all this fuss about needing non stop satellite radio....do you guys want to listen to the car or the radio?

XM is pretty cool once you've had it a short while - I have it in the office and love it. Plays all day long.

Most folks might not mind commercials and mindless DJ chatter.. and like Free FM radio.

But, we already pay for Cable TV with tons of commercials - why not commercial free radio?

I've had XM radio since the holidays. Like jrose says, I don't know how I got along without it. I mainly bought it to listen to the baseball games while going to the shore this summer. I definetly got more than I bargained for with XM. There's a whole 'nother world with satellite radio. I hardly listen to my car's stereo anymore.

I highly reccommend it!!!

Just my 2 cents, though.

For $10 a month- I'd rather have the option of tunes- commercial free. Not a big deal

I just picked up my 05 and drove it home to Vegas from Ohio. I didn't want XM but was on the car. With that said, I am glad it was there. Great selection and no commercials. It made my trip home so much easier not having to fumble around looking for stations or sticking cd's in. As someone who thought it was a waste of moeny I can tell you I am a convert. I just wish the antenna was a little less conspicuous.

I think I'd get it. I wouldn't have said so if I hadn't driven my wife's Denali for a week. It has XM and I really enjoyed it while I drove her truck. You can listen to Fox News, CNN, ESPN or any of a bunch of other specialty stations. There's even a comedy station that has nothing but stand up comedy 24 hours a day. I laughed my ass off driving around listening to it. :L I bet people who saw me thought I was nuts!

It really comes down to whether or not you want them cutting an unnecessary hole in your new car. I chose to not have it installed for that reason. My CD player provides all the music I need. I remember seeing a couple of threads about how dissapointed new owners were with the location of the antenna. Too bad they couldnt mount it inside the trunk :ugh

I Love XM

My wife has it in her new car. I have it in my winter vehicle. And now I need to get it into my 'vette. The picture from Z06Tom is exactly what I want if I figure out how to do it.

We drove my wifes car down to Florida this Christmas and we could listen to the same stations all the way down. The Comedy station is uncensored as well. So are most of the other stations, meaning they don't cut the real lyrics out like regular radio does.

You can even listen to it at home. You can't go wrong. I don't even touch regular radio except for one talk radio show. XM even has traffic and weather reports for several major cities.

I should be getting paid for this advertisement! Oh, well. You won't regret getting it. And if you don't like the little black wart, just get a black coupe and it will blend right in!

For 2005 C6's, it is a factory option.. The main gripe alot of people have is with the ugly antenna that comes with the car.

I would not have satellite radio unless I did a lot of highway driving/commuting, and I might consider it with the adaptor for a office or home use but just for the car and 30- 60 minutes a day no way. However with that being said, and if I win the lottery, satellite radio is awsome, but not high on my proposed budget items.
