"Y" connector below Fuel Vapor Canister - where does it go?

I have a 1990 L98 and on the drivers side, up toward the front under the hood, there is the Fuel Vapor Canister unit. It has the usual connections into and out of the top to the solenoid, etc. But, underneith, there is a "Y" tube-connector with two hoses out of it, about 6-8" long, that connect to nothing. I assume there is a missing part or parts. I can find nothing in the Chevrolet manual I have about the connector on the bottom. I also assume the previous owners might have removed whatever these are supposed to connect to. Any ideas?

I don't think you're missing any parts. I can't remember right now what the setup looks like, but I do seem to remember hoses on mine that led to nowhere.

I have my Helms manual in front of me now, and it doesn't give a clear indication of the "T" to which you refer; all it says to do is refer to the Vehicle Emission Control Infromation Label for routing when replacing hoses, and to use 6148M or its equivalent.

Mine on the 90 Vert. are like your Ken, just vents that go nowhere.

Just went and checked the '90 coupe .... they go nowhere. Must be vents ... maybe for the purge.

:w

Like the others have said, I think they go nowhere.

I changed mine out last summer.

Well, if no one elses go anywhere either, I won't worry about them! I just assumed that Chevrolet would have put caps or some sort of ends on them, rather than just having the hoses go off to nowhere. Thanks for the quick replies.

Well, I just had to go and look closely at mine again, just to refresh my own memory. ;)

One hose comes from the bottom of the canister; it's the Air Inlet/Drain Tube.

Now, why on earth it splits into two separate hoses I haven't a clue. An extra hose in case one gets clogged? I doubt it. ;shrug

Also, there's a tee on mine instead of a "Y" connector, which makes it even weirder yet, and harder to route or hide. :eyerole

They go nowhere, well actually they are the Canister Vent to the atmosphere

Thanks for all the replies! It sure seemed that if this was just to be a vent to atmospheric pressure, they would have had a "screen" cap of some sort on it, and it would be just a single hose rather than two of them off a "Y" connector...that was why I assumed I had a missing part under the hood. I am glad to find out that I am not missing a part! :)
