A Crossfire roadster. About time. Gorgeous.

Did GM ever make some kind of statement about the Mustang being parked in front of the entrance to their area?

Yea, the Crossfire is gonna be a nice ride. April 04 release for the Vert pictured here.
Base of 34k for the vert (so Im told)

Ross said the coupe he test drove was really solid..
Based on the Mercedes twoseater - (that the Kompressor clk I see from time to time)

Would be really Nice to get a 2 seater vert for half the $ of the mercedes

Not sure - But funny that both displays were almost back to back!

I know they trotted out the Corvette to sit next to it eventually, but that Mustang was out there right in front of the entrance for a while.

Yea, heard that Ford had a surround system blasting the sounds of the GT40 stang the whole time.
Sort of a "pi$$in' match". Hope GM remained classy for this brush. haha :D

Actually it depended on which way you entered. We went in the door closest to the outside entrance where the Saleen display was and never saw the Ford display til later. We walked past the Jaguars and Aston Martins and went right into Buick and the rest of the GM area.

Ford had one series on their big monitor that had the Ford GT, Mustang and the new Cobra Concept street racing on deserted streets. That was pretty cool. The Ford GT was on the corner of the display with the Mustang to the inside of that and the Cobra Concept behind the Mustang. I don't think thay moved anything as all of the displays were done in a semi-perminent construction way with things like hardwood floors, marble floors and carpet areas. Plus walls. ramps and elevation changes that would have been a major deal to modify even just a little. Nobodys displays were allowed to protrude out into the designated isles, which were also carpeted. There wasn't one square inch of bare concrete floor in the whole show area.

It seemed to me and was quite noticeable, that there was some good sound engineering going on in Cobo Hall. There was very little sound bleeding over from one display area to another. Even within the GM area when you went from one display to another you only heard what was going on there. You would hear some of the real loud things once in a while but not often. The most noticable to me was the Chevy engine dyno presentation when they did the wide open throttle pull with the sound system turned up. :cool

Wow, the C6 really looks geeky from straight on--like a pumpkin at Halloween is what comes to mind. I expected to see a horseless rider holding it aloft. Also, the interior is BLAND, especially when compared with the Mustang's retro-modern '67 style in the photos (whether you like it or not, and I am not sure I do, it isn't bland). Maybe the Corvette will look better when I see one in a different color, but Corvettes seem to have been looking for a look since the C3s. I passed a c5 Z06 in Electron blue over the weekend, and while I was never a big fan of the C5 it sure looks a lot tougher and Corvette-like than the pumpkin.

The real treat was the Mustang pictures. I was a real fan of Ford in the '60s (Mustangs and GT40s... my parents still have our '65 mustang we took to Europe with us). It's interesting to see them back looking so much like, well, themselves, and with Ford GT beating the Ferraris again in all the auto tests. Ford has lots of problems, but unlike GM they have a much more interesting and diverse product line of striking cars (James Bond's Vanquish, Ford GTs).

Thanx for posting the pics Rain.

That Crossfire vert is schweeet man! Thanks for posting! - Eric:w

The front of the 'stang looks like it's as aero as the side of my house - just like the original falcon, I mean 'stang.

;LOL hahhahaha Hasnt stopped the buying public in the past - But good observation! :)

For me, the steering wheel of a vehicle really sets the tone for the entire interior. The two steering wheel shots really drive the point home of how plain-Jane the C6's is.

Whether you like the mustang one or not, you can't deny that it's unique. It let's you know you are driving a mustang.

The C6 steering wheel has no personality. Nothing about its design, besides a glued on C6 emblem, let's you know you are driving the premier American-exotic car.

You are right. I'm humbled. I really don't think it is the Chevy lover in me that dislikes the look of the Fox platform 'stangs so VERY much. All have been so verticle and blocky to me. It is mystifying to me how they could sell so many, while the aero, swoopy Camaro gets cancelled. I will never understand that.
