hey guys, i know i may be posting in the wrong place but this one is the only one i know that u guys are on....so heres the story

i was driving home tonite...i got about 1/8mile from my neighborhood entrance and i mashed it a little (35mph Zone) and i hit the brakes to turn into my entrance...well a white Crown Vic stopped at my entrance and waited for me to proceed so i did...then there were these blue and red flashing lights behind me...so i pulled over...long story short i was doing 48 in a 35 and he let me off...i got lucky..not to mention he had one of his buds pull in front of me i guess to make sure i didnt run...haha oh well...ill be praying to god tonight and thanking him:thumb

I guess they will move this thread but I couldn't help to relay a similiar story....same thing....except I'm watching TV....see red and blue light outside in my driveway....kid pulled over in his mustang but he was already out of the car. The cop was facing the opposite way just before the development entrance and couldn't turn around fast enough cause of traffic. So he tells the kid to get back in the car as he is about to enter the house, he gets back in and writes a ticket. He did the same thing, got on it a little just before the entrance in a 35 zone. The cruiser was black so he couldn't see it and blew right by him. It didn't sit well in court which he fought and won...I would of bad mouthed him and let him go if it was me....but....I guess they see more then I do and don't want to tolerate speeding.

I have NO love affair for cops. They falsely charged me with arrest when I was in the Air Force. It was in the U.K. They were Air Force cops but I reported a broken mirror in the dorm and they arrested me and read me my rights. First and only time in my life! Good thing a buddy was with me or they would have railroaded me and the only ones who knew I was innocent was God and me. I think they all want to take advantage of the public to make themselves look good. They ONLY hang around with other cops, they ALL have attitudes, even off duty.

After what they tried to do to me and what I have seen of them with the ex-wife, ALWAYS the guy's fault, I wouldn't help one if he was dying in front of me.

That's MY two cents worth.

Just because you're paranoid, it doesn't mean they're not after you.

Many LEOs, in my opinion, have a chip (pun intended :D) on their shoulder. I have had my issues with LEOs, but I am very good friends with several of our locals, and find that they are quite alright. But living in a small community (about 2500 here in town and about 4200 in the entire county, 625 square miles) has its' advantages. ;)

I had an incident back when we were first married with a KHP (Kansas Highway Patrol) officer. the wife, our baby daughter and I were heading out of town after church to go get an ice cream in a neighboring town. As I go past the place where our local sits (which was a high school classmate) he's there with this KHP, I wave at Chris as we go by (in our green pickup). The KHP jumps on it and starts following me. I'm minding my own business keeping well under the speed limit. He follows me for 10 miles, finally he pulls me over. His first words were "How much have you been drinking?" "(in a very angry vioce), my response (true at the time), "Sir, I don't drink." "Well, your front left tire hit the centerline twice in the last mile". Please understand, this is western KANSAS and the wind blows....hard and those two times that my tire hits the centerline it was coming out from behind shelter belts, my pickup had very knobby tires that wabdered a bit, so yea they may have hit the center line...but not over. I say, "Sir, I certainly apologise, I didn't know that." His response was a "Get out" and then I was subjected to the walk the straight line, close your eyes and touch your nose routine. In the end he wrote me up for driving left of center.

The next day I take the morning off work and go in and want to talk to the judge (I'm extremely niave about these matters). The court clerck says the judge can't talk to me about the ticket until I go to court. So I asked what I do and she says plead no contest as it in not an admitance to guilt. So I paid my fine and went back to work. I no sooner get to work when our local, Chris, pulls in and says "Did Hornbaker give you at ticket?" my response was "Yea" (very sarcastically). Chris said "When you went by he asked 'Is that Danny _ _ _?' (We both drove green pickups with toppers) I told him 'No, but he works for Danny', and then he tore out of here following you."

My boss had received a DUI (rightfully I'm sure), then somehow got off on some technicality and they were laying for him. If I'd known about the conversation Chris had before I paid my ticket, I'd have fought it. I lost all respect for KHP officers that day. A few years later this KHP guy ends up as the head of the KHP in Kansas. I lost all respect for our Governor at that point.

Today, I have two very good friends that are KHP officers, and believe (hope) that the corruption has ended (again, sarcsm).

I apologise to our LEOs that are here on CAC, this was an incident that has scarred me for life. And I know that not all LEOs are like that. I thank God that someone wants to do that thankless job, because without them this country would be in shambles.

Good story Tom, but my grandfather told me a long time ago that if I don't have anything nice to say about someone don't say anything at all, so.....I will VALIANTLY NOT say a word at all. If you follow my meaning. I would LOVE to say what I want to say but I won't. I just do not like cops :puke, period.

One more thing.

Tom, I have a friend who is a lawyer and the porcines illegally entered his house. So he brought it all the way up to the Supreme Court and he won. More attitde from them.

How about this? Where I live whenever there's an oncoming p*g, he ALWAYS sees my Vette, ('OOOHH a Vette, HERE'S a feather in my cap!') then he IMMEDIATELY looks at his radar gun, THEN he glares at me because I ALWAYS have cruise on either at the limit or one or two miles below the limit and THAT pi$$es them off.

This happened to me THREE times yesterday in THREE different towns!

Like I said earlier, what happened to me 26!! years ago STILL sticks in my craw. I will NOT be blamed for something I didn't do. If I get caught speeding then that's my bust, it's just the harassment I don't like, the attitude that bugs me. They walk around like they're better than everyone else and to them EVERYONE is guilty of SOMETHING, except them of course.

There, I said my peace. Sigh. Ahhhh.
:W

I'll keep that in mind. I'm a officer !!!!

We are not all bad!!

I am sure that there are SOME good cops but after my experiences with them, I have a low opinion of them. Sorry. I know you are called "peacekeepers" but in MY opinion most, not ALL are more like troublemakers. Even when I needed the law for one reason or another they treated me and others I know like we were pond scum. I am talking about cops in the Air Force, Idaho, Massachusetts, and Georgia. All from the same mold. What I do not understand is why they automatically think EVERYONE is guilty, even someone who needs help. I would rather call a gang member for help than a cop. I too can "technically" be call a cop as I think we still do have "citizen's arrest rights" or did they take that away from us too?

speeding ticket (not)

A few summers ago i was heading up to Lake George in NY to their big car show in Sept. Now the speed limit on the thruway is 65 so i am cruising around 72..Now i see this i think it was anyway a Honda Vue coming up all the way over to my right i am all the way in the left lane he is moving just as we come over a hill i see the trooper sitting on the left now this Vue was passing me as i saw the cop. So i go by and sure enough he comes out and pull's me over. He said you know why i stopped you so me being a little smartass sometimes i said well i was doing 6mph over the speed..He didn't like that he said i was doing 82 he shot the Vue..It wasn't Laser it was Radar..So anyway i plead not guilty send in the ticket and go to court. So now i have to drive back 2hrs to go to court but it was worth it. They call me in the back,,my license is clean as a whistle,The women calls me in the back and say's the DA will drop it to a parking ticket..boy that was quick...$100 and $25 court fee..it's just about the money..but at least i didn't get any points on my license..alway's plead Not Guilty..you have nonthing to loose but maybe your time...

i can go either way with this subject being a former police officer. i still hang out with a few of my former co-workers and talk to them on a regular basis. but i also have a couple (one in particular) who i was VERY good friends with and partners with for at least 10 of the 14 years i was an officer who absolutely shuns me now. he is your "typical" cop and the reason i am not any more.. the holier than all attitude and massive chip on thier shoulders is the main reason many people have negative opinions of the police. i have to read in the paper everyday articles written about the idiot govenor of this state and how broke we are.. well not that im for cutting police but when one has so little to do that he can sit outside my bar watching for people to leave for 3 or 4 hours at a time, something tellms me that either i live in a perfect town where there is no other crime or they have to much time on thier hands, or and most likely, all they want to do is arrest the working class for dwi (which i am not defending) imstead of patroling the zone and preventing other crimes from taking place

I just LOVE when the cops murder a someone in a wheelchair with a taser. Such nice people they are huh?
:mad

I've worked with the the Feds (Special Agents in EPA, IRS, FBI, Customs, etc) and local police forces for all of my career (now retired) and have a high respect for them. They have a dangerous job and cannot trust many strangers. But I also had a similar incident back in the the 1960s. Was on leave from the service and had gone to Des Moines to interview for a job if I decided to separate (I didn't), and was returning to KCMO in my dad's car. Passed two cars on a two lane highway straightaway; several miles later I am pulled over and the officer said that I passed the cars at an intersection. Told me to follow him to the magistrate in a small town. The magistrate said I was guilty even though I told him that the intersection was a driveway to a farm house. Said the fine was $50. Told him I did not have that much on me, so he asked how much I had. About $22. He took it and told me to leave. No receipt, no nothing to show that I had paid a fine. They had a racket going, but I decided to let it drop because they did not know I had several hundred dollars in my luggage. So I still admire the police for all the work they do and will help them whenever I can; several bad apples did not change my attitude. But I was fuming all the way home.

You got treated like that by some corrupt scum and you still have respect for them? Um...I will not say any more.

there was a trooper working the thruway who was running a racket like that for ages several years ago. he got my ex-brother in law not once but twice! and remembered him from the first time so he doubled the fine!

over the years

You know how you meet and know thousands of people over your lifetime.
Maybe 10% are *******s and 30% you just didn't like.
Police are probably about the same ratio.:beer
They may be police but they are human beings first. Scarey eh!!!!!!!
