Folks,
I did some work on my center guages, thus I had to remove the side panels next to the transmission. There I found a small light that was infact working, just laying there next to the four speed shifter. Does anyone know what it's for and where it belongs? I have a 4-spd '78 S/A. I wouldn't have known it was there unless I took these panels off, but the question is what is it there for?

P.S. it's a small bulb similar to the ones used to light up the guages.

thanks for the help.

Sully

Was this an automatic car at one time? This light would be for the selector indicator panel in an automatic car. If this vette has always been a manual shift -- I have no idea. Maybe someone else will know.

I'm hoping it wasn't an auto at one time- this was my thoughts initially. I can't imagine with all the work that would be required to convert to a stick- I think I would be able to tell. I know I need to check on all the vin mubers to see if they are correct- I haven't done that yet.

thanks.

anyone else have any ideas??

The cigarette lighter had a light with a small metal hood like attachemnt. The light and hood could have become seperated.

In addittion there is a light on the underside of the heater/ac control panel althought the bulb is somewhat different than the dash lights.
