I just saw an add for a 2003 Z06 w/ "a Z06 chip"and it was listed at 435 hp.Can someone tell me what that chip does and where do you buy one,and what is the cost.. Jim

Interesting...
The chip in C5 Corvettes cannot be replaced with an aftermarket chip. It can be reprogrammed, but that comes with both benefits and costs. Others will chime in here, but that sounds suspicious to me.

I'm not sure a tune would get you 30 more HP without anything else done to it. Seems too cliche that it was driven by a little old lady on weekends. It may be a nice car and all but the add makes me want to run.

Lookin for a C5 to go with the 67?
good Idea it may be a misprint the Z06 was introduced with 385hp and then bumped to 405 I only wish is had been availabe in the coupe body.

"Chip" or no, it seems a bit on the expensive side.
I agree, something not quite right about it, but maybe worth an inquiry. But only if you could speak to the previous owner.

Thanks for all the warnings/concern.I'm not interested in this car but I was questioning the CHIP thing.
If anyone see's a good 2003 Z06 w/low miles ,let me know.Thanks all..Jim

Sometimes a 67 BB is'nt enough.

Damn these things are adictive.....

I have a 2003 Z06 with 3K miles. Absolutely pristine and cleaner than the day I picked it up.

What are you thinking of spending.

I can be realistic but will not give this vehicle away.

Dave, currently working w/a friend of mine who buys at wholesale at auctions.going to pick on up for low 30's.
What color is yours and where are you located.
I'm in Toledo ,Ohio area.. Jim

Dave,
I may be interested, could you PM me w/ a few pictures and what would you be willing to sell it for. We're pretty close.
Thanks Jim

Jim,

I would sell the car for 37K.

As far as condition the car is cleaner than the day I picked it up! The underside of the car has been detailed and is spotless. I have never driven the vehicle in the rain. The vehicle was only hand washed. Mobil 1 filter and oil change after 500 mile break-in plus at the end/beginning of the 2 season's (4 times) I have owned the vehicle. The vehicle is stock with exception of "Wet Okole" (Black, with red piping and red Z06 embroidered on head-rest) seat covers (installed a week after I owned the car), and a B&M short throw shifter (I drove a friends and loved it, have original as swap is only an hour job).

All original paperwork, etc...

By the way original purchase was Spring of 04 (@ that time their were only a few 03's left on dealer lots). Therefore, the original factory warrant 3 year/36K is still in effect for 1 more year as it starts ticking at time of purchase.

If your looking for a perfect car and the price works....No need to waste time with pictures as an hour drive will validate my words.

DAVE

Dave,
I'll let you know if I want to come up and look at your car.I have to exhaust my friends efforts first to see if he can locate one,but your car sounds great.I'll be in touch..Jim

I agree. There isn't a chip made for this car. Way too expensive of an asking price. The guy sounds like he doesn't know anything about C5's.

wow, for a "snowbird" that drove only on the weekends... 28k?????? she must have LIVED in it on the weekends in two winters??????

Jim,

Any luck with your Z06 search.

I am willing to meet you between your $ and my asking price.

DAVE
