I recognize that area. Next to Chilhowee Lake on Calderwood Highway (129). Pretty spot to group up before an all-out assualt on the Dragon's Tail. Great shot!NC 50anny said:We had a great time last fall running the Tail, lets do it again!
Good grief! Whoever did that should be arrested, imprisoned and banned from driving for life! Then horsewhipped when released from jail. Then shot in the right foot to be sure he didn't drive again. Oh my eyes, please God don't let me dream of this tonight!!! :LNC 50anny said:BV: Would Tony do something like this?

Z_OH_6, you should come along the next time the southeast CAC bunch does a dragon run. That is a very fun stretch of road, as long as you don't get stuck behind a wheeled crane or hearse

MsSchroder/68Roadster, Front page of this morning's Maryville paper talks about the crackdown on the Dragon. Another fatality, last month, resulted in more law enforcement attention being paid to the famous and dangerous highway. 29 traffic tickets were issued within 3 hours.68Roadster said:Z_OH_6,
How about a run on the Dragon next time I'm in Maryville.......promise I won't rip your armrest off........it's no fun in the rental cars (other than you can abuse them!)
I read this elsewhere on this forum or another where you posted it and all I can say is that your wife deserves a medal to have gone through that, especially while expecting! God bless her! Lesser auto passengers have gotten sick from the ride; it is unrelenting. Over the nearly 16 years that I have driven it, I've had several passengers not fair as well. The driver, as you no doubt know, has the advantage of knowing when he/she is about to brake, accelerate, shift and dive into the next corner. You're so busy clutching, shifting, steering, braking, you just don't have time to be sick! :LRain said:I've only driven the Dragon twice, (with my pregnant wife by my side), and I honestly had to push to get over the speed limit anywhere within the Dragon. There is the Cattail straight and Cooper.
Other than that, I was ridin the brake and chirpin a bit of rubber on some of the hairpins.
Now going in and going out of that stretch of twisties - Lots of space to speed.

Well BV.....let me start by saying that I don't work for the post office...I work for UPS. I'm a driver and am the lucky one that gets to meet the customer face to face as I hand them their crushed package. The problem with shipping things through UPS is the fact there are soooo many packages in the system at any given time, and they are all on the move to one destination or another. They have to travel through miles of conveyer belts (and thats just in one building) with turns and corners. They have a tendency to "get stuck" often at these corners and thats when most of the damage is done. Your parts should be fine, but I'll keep my fingers crossed for you anyway. I'm in the middle of hopeing-praying that my new top will arrive in one piece. I've been looking for a new targa top for months now. I really didnt want to do the ebay thing because I was worried about the damage done during shipping. Well after no luck finding one local...I got one off of ebay. It's brand spankin new with the gm paper still on the glass. I pleaded with the seller to please use extra caution when packing it. On Wednesday I'll see if my pleas went unheard or not. At least it will only be in our system for 2 days (it's coming from NYC...and I'm in Pittsburgh) so that should help me some. As for your question about kicking -punching pkg's...trust me...the driver does not do that. It's the college age kids we employ part time loading and unloading trucks that seem to have fun doing that. If they are caught....they are shown the door....but it does still happen. I ALWAYS tell my customers..." NEVER WRITE FRAGILE" on your shipments. I think the part timers get their rocks off by seeing if it really is fragile or not. Good luck with your parts, and if my top arrives in a million pieces,I'm sure I'll be ranting about it here. :eyerole Oh yeah.....I loved that movie...Ace Ventura !!theblackvette said:Do mail people ever kick around boxes down hallways and smack the heck out of them? Just wondering?
Sort of like when this guy did it. Remember? I ordered some items for my Z06 and wondered if I should be concerned. Thanks.
If you ever see a package addressed to Tony's Torch headed for Texas would you mind pouring gasoline and setting fire to the package? I would greatly appreciate it!![]()
