Hi Zeke! I'm going to break away your post to its own thread because it will likely garner more attention on its own than buried in the current thread.Glad to have you join us and we have lots of friendly corvette folks who'll chime in with suggestions I'm sure.

I'd suggest first some reading and browsing through the Corvette Action Center | Tech Center and the Corvette Action Center | Tech Center | Research Center This will answer some questions right out of the starting gate (such as the Z06 only comes with a manual transmission - no autos!).

BTW. . . it doesn't matter to everyone but to some it does, so I'll mention it briefly here, and that is internet etiquette suggests posters refrain from using all caps when writing on the boards. Some are of the opinion it indicates shouting and is rude. Like I said, not everyone views it the same but then again, some do see it that way.

So. . . I'm opening your new thread as soon as I reply here.

Welcome to the Forum Zeke1960.

If you want a Z06 - they only come in stick. Lots of horsepower, lots of fun.

I like red but you have to decide what color you like best.
Good luck with your search.

The C5 Z06s are fantastic cars, economy, performance, unique body style, and with the '04s the pinnacle of the 5th Generation. Prices are really affordable and there are lots of babied Z's out there ripe for the pickin'!!

Welcome aboard, and I stuggled with the same issues many years ago with stick or automatic and decided at least half the fun with driving the "All American Sports Car" was shifting gears so it wasn't too hard for me selecting a stick and never looked back; honestly never really regretted it either, don't get me wrong I've been in traffic a time or two and an automatic would have been nice too but having to do it all over again I would still pick the stick, nothing like being in control for me, but this too is a personal preference Picking black was still a good choice, looks great when it's clean but harder keeping it that way. Happy hunting, looking for all this for me and I bought used, could not see and/or afford to buy new for something I just drive occassional I could not justify NEW in my mind or pocket book either, this was for me the way to go, bought it off a private individual, exactly all the options and etc. I was looking for, the hunt is part of the fun

Again happy hunting there is one out there with your name on it.

Finally Pulled the Trigger

Finally pulled the trigger, on a 2012 Centennial Edition.My first Vette.

Thanks to my Father's "GM Employee Discount" and some extra dealer incentive, things worked out.

So,I have graduated from a 78 Z-28@ age 20 to this.I love this thing.

Thought Z06 was only available in a stick transmission . I could be wrong. . . . . . I was once
