iam in the middle of a little engine work on my 82
it had a 2 bolt main i got a 4 bolt free so iam changing them out and a few other items also
a local performance shop recomended i have them zinch cromite my block, cam journals i mean everything bit the oil gallys and the cylinderwalls
it is soposed to make the oil flow off the casting much faster and all this other good stuff
encluding making it run much cooler
and some how giving me a few extra hp and torque
i have already done it
they wanted 400$
i had time so i did it myself
it looks great
but to be honest i have no idea what iam doing
is this a good idea?
or no

82 was crossfire

I've got no clue...

...but I would be interested in hearing how your project turns out.

thanks
it is good to know there are people out there that know what there talking about
and why is it when you mention corvette price jumps 40% ON ANTHING\
82

the price jump...

Drives me nuts, too.

Mostly my 78 is trouble free, but I have found a very reasonable corvette mechanic, and I won't worry about prices so much anymore since I know he won't gouge me. He will still make his profit, but not hand-over-fist, and I trust him.
Trust goes a loooong way, baby!

My husband does all the repairs he is equipped to do in our own garage, but if I have to send her out, I'll send her to the mechanic mentioned above.

Good luck with your project, and I'd still be interested in hearing how it turns out.

I can see how the coating would make the fluids bead up and flow better, but I don't understand how that could give extra hp or torque. The running cooler I think I'd understand if it truly helped with the flow and also was a good heat exchanger or diffuser.

Myself, I only know the basics about engines, so I may have said something stupid above, and if I did...just re-educate me!

i go through a corvette restoration shop
it is sort of a privet shop i guess not to many people know about it he only works on c 3's
he does great work and gives me credit out at his shop beacuse i give him all my parts that i dont need
see iam doing a little remodeling everywere and find little use for most of the stock idems
iam 18 and gota hold of this car pretty cheep
all that was wrong was a bent lower control arm, fuel problem, bent 2 rims, faded capet
so i baught it
i decided i want a little more hp so
383
rollar rockers
30 over
cam to mach head work
trying to get the cash for titaneum valvs
forged pistons
said good bye to crossfire
performer rpm air gap
not sure on a carb yet
iam going to have the intake and carb flowed eventualy
12 pt roll cage
not sure on rear end work yet
relly dont know much about rearends yet

do you know if an 82 would have a tough rearend?
and any recomendations on a radeator?

I'm afraid I won't be much help...

I think most rearends are about the same as far a strength, perhaps only gearing is different.
As for the radiator, I prefer just the normal one, heavy duty. Others may prefer the aluminum ones, with a 383.

I'd reccomend calling and talking to some engine shops about what kind of power you are looking for and what would be the best combination for your setup.

12 pt roll cage
:eek

Are you trying to build a drag car?!

performer rpm air gap

I take it you don't have a stock hood?

As far as rear ends are concerned they seem pretty easy to do. Just gotta have the right tools including a press.

What exactly are you shooting for? The rear end on these things won't hold up to well when you start making some decent power. You are going to have to consider "freshening up" the drivetrain.

iam not trying to build a drag car
but i want somthing that i can race weather it be in the 1/4 mile or somthin else
iam not going to have the stock hood when i am done unless i can modify it somehow
but for rearends i guess i need to figure out exactily where i want the power at
i guess iam looking for more the 1/4 mile
that is later down the road though
