Hi all,

Does anyone know of an online source of reference for interpreting scan data from say, an AutoXray EZ-Scan scanner for Corvette LT1 engines? I'm getting an AutoXray 3000 for Christmas (Santa already let me know :)), and before I begin using it, I'd like to do a little research so that when I do look at the data, I'll know a little bit more about what's normal and what indicates a problem.

So far, the only thing that I've been able to come up with is this: LT1 Scanmaster Explained which doesn't apply to the AutoXray device in particular, but seems to be pretty good general info.

Thanks in advance!

Ron

Why don't you go to the website and download a User's Manual.

AutoXray®

I have the TechScan 7000 and downloaded its user's manual. The readouts are good. You can use the manual to help understand the data displays. The unit does use the verbage of the specific test and a service manual for the car being tested is helpfull.

Good point. I do have both service manuals for my year of car. I was just wondering if there might be a more condensed reference that someone may have come up with over the years that highlights what normal ranges are for each scan item.

Thanks!

Hey Shark.. I just tried that and it wouldnt go mr autoxray,, actron yes, autoxray NO.... :(

Here is a very generic chart that I think is what you are looking for. I am sure you scan tool will display much more data and the best place to find correct data figures is a Field Service Manual. I would post it but for some reason it won't let me, says it too big at 1.1 MB. That is stupid. Edited it so if it is hard to read don't blame me.

Someone want to delete this post, my attachment totally unreadable. DOH!!!

PM me your e-mail screamin conure and I'll get you the full sized copy.

Defeated by our own forum, maybe I'm just stupid, could be its been a day full of stupid.

Hey Rubie,

I can read that just fine! I get a little magnifyinig glass mouse pointer and I click and it zooms right in.

Thanks everyone!

The AutoXray and your factory service manuals are all you need, if you're called upon to do diagnostic work. That said, if your check engine light is not on, you don't really need to worry about diagnostics right now.

What you can do with your new Xmas present, is connected it to the DLC and run the scanner in the data list mode while you watch the data and an assistant drives.

Thanks Hib! Yes, that's exactly what I was looking to do. I don't have a check engine light on, and I'm showing no codes via the "paperclip method", but I am experiencing a poor quality idle most of the time. My car runs fine otherwise. I figured with a scanner that can show me real time data, while the car is being driven in normal traffic, I can perhaps find a clue as to where the issue might be. I think I know what most of the data items that are collected mean and what's considered normal, but not all of them. I guess my FSM can fill in the blanks for me.

Thanks again everyone!

Ron
