2003 Millennium Yellow vert
I just realized I never introduced myself. I'm Mike, I live in the St. Louis area. I own a 2003 Millennium Yellow convertible. It has 20,xxx miles, Z06 exhaust, long tube stainless headers, tuned, and a few other goodies. Growing up in St. Louis and going to the plant as a kid, I have always wanted a Vette, I bought this almost three years ago. She is my baby. Awsome site, glad to be here!

Welcome Mike we're glad you've joined us. You will love it here, is the old Corvette factory still standing there in St. Louis? What was the last year the Corvette was made there? I am assuming the first year was 1953; is that correct?

Sounds like you got a choice C-5 there :thumb

I think the last year Vettes made in St Louis was 81 or 82?? they were made at both locations for a couple months then when BG cameto full steam SL was closed.

I think the plant is still here. I don't get up that way much. I would like to go see if it's still there and get some pics one of these days. They started here in 54 and went until sometime in the 81 run. I believe I have heard all the 2-tone cars came from Bowling Green and the solid colors came from St. Louis. Not sure though.

Welcome to Corvette Action Center

The First Vette's were made in Flint Michigan.

I do not remember welcoming you to the group, so welcome aboard :beer

All 300 of the 1953's were made there.

Where were the 1954's made, did they start then @ the St Louis plant? If memory serves me there was less 54's than 53's made, is that correct? What was the first year everything was made @ St Louis? Guess I could look all this up but thought you might know ;shrug

Interesting, I do know a guy that has 54.

No. All the 53's (300 of 'em) were hand built in Mich. The St Louis plant started the '54 production year. Yes, the two-tones were done (except a couple as I have read) in BG. I think it was in June of '81 or '82 that production started in BG and Vettes were built simu at both plants during that month and the following month SL closed. Yes about two-tones. The BG plant had better paint capabilities/facilities but a few test cars (two-tone) WERE done at SL. This is what I have read.
