It has yet to be determined at what actual engine temp his fans are not running.. (you DID say your fans are not coming on, right, post #1?).

Owners manual says to turn engine off if it reaches 260 and let it cool down :ugh.highest I've seen was 250 and that was enough to need a paramedic..

What I am trying to establish is; is the engine is actually " overheating" or if OP is seeing a erroneous reading from the analog gauge.
He has not compared analog to digital readings ( doesn't even know where the digital gauge is )
OP has made no mention of coolant boiling / overflowing / or other signs that the engine was excessively hot ;only that he has seen a high gauge reading and his fans did not cut in
If you have been a around the C4 forums long enough you will have seen plenty of posts from newby owners freaking out because the engine was over 200;
a temp they had never seen on other cars
yea its at like 260, t may be a sign of overheating because I think my intake gasksets are shot, anytime id take it for a ride id has a little pool of coolant sitting above my manifold(below the fuel rail) I think that may have cause it, and i dont hear a knocking noise under the oil pan so i dont have any type of piston slap

Problem is ;now if I can just figure out why I get a pool of coolant on my intake manifold, going to check all the torque specs on all the bolts,
