need some help....rebuilt left, spins over like a top...

problem is that it won;t spin the right direction ! 1st up 2nd down.. Or vice versa...

what in the switch can do this.

any takers? Lh headlite actuator. Innerds. Limit switches and you still got good insides.

Well, because nobody could come up with a solution to the reversed polarity issues, I had to figure it out myself...
only took disassembling the motor 9 times to understand and correct the problem.

It's fixed.:happyanim:

Problems like that one SUCK! You look at it over and over, think it's right every time, then finally the light bulb comes on and you are able to correct it. It would really be good to have the light bulb come on sooner, but that's not the way it works. Glad it's fixed.

yessir...it was frustrating.

I was wearing out the plastic case halves and the screw holes. I probably need to go back and replace those plastic screws with small bolts/nut to keep the case closed and sealed...
I had that thing apart on my dinner table and went thru it like it was a swiss watch!

After less than great results, and having proved there were no "bad" parts, I decided to apply the opposite logic in the area of the limit switches...
I had been thinking, the easier they are to operate by the small lever the less the armature has to travel to break the points...but thats double edged. If they are tensioned TOO easy, they open as the armature turns and before it bottoms out. This causes one or both sets to open and create the out of time/phase headlight rotation...one up, one down.

Tightened the points up and bent the tabs for more spring tension and it works as it should. Motor is a little sluggish but I think thats just from the new brushes needing to wear in and find the full contact on the commutator.
