Wanted to own a Vette for 40 years and now I do!! Don't know why I waited so long. Absolutely love it. One owner 50th Anniversary Edition Convertible w/complete history, 24,000 miles, showroom mint inside and out and under the hood. But soon I need to garage it for several months. I was told I should put a 2 amp slip charge on the battery while I'm gone. Any other recommendations?

Welcome to both the Corvette Action Center and to the "World of Corvettes"! Your life is not likely to ever be the same! :L You picked a nice model for your first.

Yes, you should put a trickle charger on the car during extended periods of non-use. I'd also like to suggest using a cover, even if in a garage.

I agree that if you are going to store the car for 2 months, a charger/maintainer is a good investment. There is a constant small drain on a modern car battery and this will not only take care of that but it also helps you get the most out of a battery. There is nothing harder on any kind of lead acid battery than inactivity. I have 7 of these on all my tractors, combine and yes, corvettes. With each piece of farm diesel equipment it takes 2 batteries and at over $180 each I will do what I can to make them last. By the way welcome to the forum. I have found that when it comes to Corvettes there are some very knowledgable people here.

Thanks to all for your support and info. I feel a bit better about leaving my new baby for 4 months.

Welcome to the CAC! You will have a great time here. A lot of nice, knowledgeable folks to help you take care of your Vette.

A trickle charger is a great, inexpensive way to make sure your battery keeps everything working. I hard-wired mine so all I have to do is connect the plug and plug in the cord.

While you are out enjoying your new Vette, please SAVE the WAVE! :w

I have a Schumacher SC-8010A. Has 2A trickle, 10-25A charge and 80A rapid charge settings. Should work on low automatic setting. Your 2004 is beautiful!

I really like the Schumacher battery products. Have a couple of them, myself.

After charging up your battery, please SAVE the WAVE! :w
