Welcome to the Corvette Forums at the Corvette Action Center!

Corvette Mechanic Site

I think that maybe it is, for some reason Paul felt the need to purge the old site and start a new one, with better software from what I can see. In one of the posts he refers to the "old" site. The name of the site simply has "the" added to the title. I registered and posted some pictures...

What the hell... :beer

Well I stand corrected :)

Last summer at cruisefest, Paul made some comment about having some "things in the works". I'm betting this was one of them.

I remember that as well...I had forgotten about it...
I thought he had mentioned his website too.

I will take a shot about what is so "special" about CM.

The quality of the information is very high, the volume of information is not. I will take one informed quality post from a tech at CM over ten posts at most other "Vette" forums.

No ads and no supporting vendors. Ads and supporting vendors cut both ways, many supporting vendors are great & well informed but just as many (IMO) are paying a fee & selling stuff.

Some Vette forums (let's say one in particular that starts with Z) will censor a members post if the member puts a link to a "Non supporting vendor" site, even though the intention is for a member to help another member. That, in particular, annoyed me so much that I rarely go back to that forum, even though it was centered around the specific Corvette model I own.

So there is definately a place for CM among the other "major" Vette forums & I'm glad it's back.

It most surely is the site you and others were looking for - C4C5 is there.;)

www.thecorvettemechanic.com

Actually vett boy was correct. "The corvette mechanic" which Paul is also on never stopped working as far as I can tell, but "corvettemechanic" which is a different site was down for quite a while but is now back up. Paul (c4c5) is on both of the forums, and he is second to none on late model corvette knowledge. The names are very closely related and can easily be confused. :)

My understanding is that Paul lost touch with Denise the admin of the old site and I don't think has been able to contact her. Jonathan (JBsC6) contact Paul and myself about joining forces. Paul and I liked the idea, I got the domain name used here. I decided to switch over a site that I had that did not have a lot of traffic on it (CrossedFlags.com I bought the name from Frank a few years ago). I upgraded to the latest vB, renamed the site and here we are today.

I am not sure what all that means, but there are two different sites. The "corvettemechanic" site did not morph into "the corvette mechanic", they are two seperate sites and "corvettemechanic" was down for quite a while, which is what the OP and vett boy were referring to. I did a quick check and "the corvette mechanic" has posts as far back as 2008 and did not go down. Hopefully everyone enjoys both of them.:)

The site's up, but Paul hasn't posted in about a month.

pretty much the original went down and people were emailing me as to what was up. We couldnt' get ahold of Denise so I spoke with a buddy of mine who had a quiet corvette site and we created a new "THECORVETTEMECHANIC.COM for all the corvette enthusiasts to have a place to ask various corvette mechanics questions including c4c5...

Now the two sites are back up and running so go to the site you like best should you have a specific question.

Of course my pleasure includes shooting the breeze about the entire automotive industry so thats why I post up all the news etc..

I tend to hang more at www.thecorvettemechanic.com just because there seems to be more people interested in the various articles of the day that are inclusive of the automobile industry.

I've always had the belief that to know what is occuring in the entire industry leads to greater insights overall.

Anyways....I hope this information helps those understand what occured.

Just trying to make sure the corvette community had the opportunity to ask and have answered whatever questions came up in thier adventures.
