2003 50th Annversary Red coupe, beautiful !
I bought a new set of armrests from Corvette America and I need to remove the old gray armrests first ? How do I go about this ? Fishing line underneath and work it back and forth or what ? Thank you !

:ugh

Are you talking about the armrest on the door panels? If so, are you saying that someone installed some aftermarket armrest on your door panels?

Factory installed armrests

Yeah Junkman, They came with the car and I believe they are held on with two faced tape, I think. their on a standard C5 door panel. I can lift them a little but I don't want to break anything ? :confused

Get some Goo Gone (Automotive Formula) and allow it to soak on the backside of those arm rest. It will take awhile but that stuff will get it loose. You don't want to pull on them because it will delaminate the door skin. That would suck.

Thanks Junkman, I go to Home depot shortly. And apply it to the one door panel side and let it soak in ? Thank you again !

Cleaning up after Goo Gone ?

Hay Junkman,
Once I have the old armrests off, How do I clean the 'Goo gone' Up so I can reattach the new Armrests with fresh 3M automotive double face tape ? The bottle of Goo Gone only speaks of removing any kind of stain and not about cleaning up the 'Goo Gone itself. I bought a real nice set from Corvette America which attach with double face tape ? Thank you again !

Use alcohol and water (50/50) on a cotton cloth. Flip it a couple of times to make sure you're using a clean spot, especially on the last wipe down. I wonder if someone put those armrest on there because the door skin was already beginning to come apart?

I don't think so, I have it since new and they were on it when I purchased it. They look stock same color and cut to fit the door panel. and you can see they are the same color of the door panel ? The alcohol and water well prep the door panel clean enough ? I don't want to damage the vinyl door panel ? Didn't all C5's come with armrests ? Thank you ! :w

No, definitely not. I think that only the 50th Anniversary Edition came with them. Funny, I just notice that you have a 50th. The door pulls are aftermarket though. Here's a 50th Anniversary interior.

Mine didn't come with those....they look nice though.

If I remember correctly, there are the 2003 50th Anniversary cars and then there are the cars that were built in 2003 that are not 50th anniversary cars... or something like that. Only the cars that had those off-gold colored wheels are the special anniversary cars. I think that only those cars had the armrest. Don't quote me though... :D

I have a friend here who just bought a 50th Anni (complete with all the fancy stripes). I'll have to look at his closer.

All 2003 Corvettes are considered Anniversary cars, but only the 1SC cars had the 50th. Anniversary packaged cars, special paint and different interior like special headrests and the wheel are painted in a 'Champagne' Color & a few different things. I just pulled the trigger and bought a set of Apsis splash guards Expensive, and I sprayed the iner fenders with a 3M 05911 "Rocker panel stone protection Spray. I had them painted the Anniversary Red paint same color as the car and my friend who owns the body shop and I set about installing them. The fronts were a snap but the rears needed the massage of his experience. See what you think, we kept the amount of revel at as close to nothing as possible. I'm a NCRS member, and I've tried to only add some things that GM forgot.

That's exactly what I was trying to say. I just couldn't remember how to say it. :D
