The outside temp sensor is intermittent in reading correctly. I'm not sure where the sensor is located so I can't check it's connection. It seems to be "Bump" sensitive, but this may only be a coincidence.
The only codes I get are HVAC BO 441 and BO 446 which are history codes.
Any help would be much appreciated. On a lighter note I guess it really doesn't matter in Seattle since it's not a rain sensor.
:)

Not sure that the sensor doesn't make any difference......I could be wrong (and I probably am), but doesn't that sensor report to the computer for other things, besides just letting you know what the outside temp is?

Somebody jump in here and let us know one way or the other.

Didn't do my Recon!!

Soooo.... after checking more on the site I found the pix from JunkMan. I'm on my way to purchase a new one.
That's assuming I can find my way:L

If that sensor is not working correctly, it will not allow the AC to turn on. Most AC systems default to heat when something goes wrong because you can drive a car without AC, but you can't drive in the winter without being able to defrost the windows.

Thanks AJ, I was pretty sure there was more to the sensor than just showing the outside temp.

Yes, it is tied into the system. When you go to turn on the AC, the LED on the button will flash 3 times but the air will not come on if the BCM thinks that the outside air temperature is too low. A good test of this is to try and turn on your AC on a cold winter day. You will see that the AC will not turn on. That's why that sensor defaults to a low value when it goes bad. You will still have heat. The system will also default to a low value if that sensor is unplugged.

When replacing that sensor, the AC will not immediately work after the completion of the job. You must drive the car for awhile and allow the BCM to detect the ambient temperature before the system will start blowing cold air. Some people who have experienced this "wait time" have mistakenly thought that their system was still broke. Imagine the joy and jubilation they experience when suddenly, cold air starts rolling out their vents. :happyanim:

AJ,
once again it never ceases to amaze me the amount of knowledge that lives in your jar head. I'm surprised you weren't in motor t instead of cocking cannons.

I never have liked working on cars. I only do it now because of the ridiculous amount of money I save by doing it myself!
