Since the weather is finally beginning to warm up, I will be venturing outside to fire up the grill. I just wondered how many other folks here like to cook out and what do you prefer for fuel choices. I've been using propane for a few years now, but would like to get back to charcoal. Also anyone do any smoking?

Here's a pic of where all the magic happens.

Charcoal!

I have a smaller Brinkmann grill and smoker that was used last weekend to slow cook a chicken over a beer can.

Looks like this:

I'm trying to convince the wife that I need a newer, bigger grill this year.

I love to grill on my Weber. I use charcoal chunks with no lighter fluid. Electric starter.
STEAKS are my favorite, but I'll burn anything on it! :L

I had a Big Green Egg for a while that I liked but my wife thought was too smoky. That thing made great baked potatoes. I have a Weber gas unit that I love. It's so precise its like cooking in an oven.

I have a gas unit… stainless but not Weber… cast grills… I cook everything from steak (of course) to pizza.

Thanks for the replies, guys. My gas grill works fine, but I miss the taste you get from charcoal. When I'm just doing a couple of burgers, the charcoal grill seems unnecessary since the heat will remain long after the cooking is done. I may have to start cooking larger cuts of beef or maybe a chicken or two. The Weber has a great reputation and is priced reasonably. I am considering the Green Egg as well. I'll keep you posted.

Also, its good to know I'm not the only one that takes pics of food!View attachment 18590 View attachment 18591

The Green Egg does a good job but it is a smoker and does add a smoky taste to your food. It's also high maintenance in that it has a choke point that has a metal grill in it that clogs, requiring you to empty the smoker just about every other time you use it to clean the grate. It was a little too high maintenance for me to cook a small meal for me and my wife.

We had one of those when I was growing up as a kid in Hawaii in the early 70's. Then my dad retired from the military, took a job in the propane business and we never cooked with coals again.
