hello peoples,
my name is Tony. I am from Sydney, Australia.
I have just purchase my very first corvette.:happyanim:2 days ago.
1970 c3 little red coupe. 350, 4 speed manual, right hand drive converted.
I still cant believe its mine. been a dream since I was about 7 years old, and now ive got one. (im now 47 years old)
great to be one of the privileged few.

Welcome to CAC!!!!

Welcome and Congratulations

Welcome to CORVETTE ACTION CENTER we're glad you've joined us :happyanim:CONGRATULATIONS on your first CORVETTE ever, you will never get that :D wiped off, it will be there as long as you are a CORVETTE owner! Post some pictures if and when you get a chance! Interested in the RH drive, you said converted is the dash, speedometer/tachometer/and all gauges just reversed; or how is that done on a RH drive is what I'm asking? No instrumentation, etc on the LH side?

-Bill :w

Welcome to the :CAC

RH drive would take a little getting used to.

hi, thanks. yeah I cant get the smile of my face. it is bloody awesome.:happyanim::D still cant believe Its mine.
I will post some pics when I get a bit of time.
but r/h conversion is full move of gauge pod and all gauges and odometer to r/h side. ( no gauges on left side of the car) steering box moved to r/h side of chassis. it is a very good conversion, with full engineering certification. there are a lot of left hand drive corvettes here. but as we drive on the left side of the road here, r/h drive is the norm for all cars here.

So is this an aftermarket conversion, everything being on the right side that was originally on the left side, including accelerator pedal, brake & clutch pedals if applicable? Pictures would be cool! A lot of US Mail carries drive RH SIDE controlled vehicles and I talked to mine who has a JEEP and she said it took a while to get use to it, and now when she drives the family car with everything on the LH SIDE it is strange!!

I will take few more pics of steering box which has been moved to the right side chassis rail.
this car creates a bit of attention here in Australia, even going to petrol station. I come out after paying and there will be people standing around checking her out. people take photos of her where ever I go.

Welcome to the CAC

That is really nice. You say It has drum brakes?

Tom

Nice, and it is red, , , , ,

Really nice Vette, and red to boot. . . . I bet it does get a lot of attention in your country, does it hold it's own or better with other vehicles there, the V-8 should give some a shellacking I would think!! But I have to say it is hard for me to wrap my brain around the RH drive, I would have to be retrained completely, my left had was just not programed to shift, assume this is a typical H pattern 4-speed. Are LH DRIVE vehicles even allowed in your country? I assume there would be a learning curve for you all for this as well :Steer? Does it have disc brakes on the front and rear, Corvette might have made the change over to disc front and rear by 1970, other American manufactures still had drum breaks on the rear, I had a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS that still had drum brakes on the rear.

Nice one you have there and thanks for posting the pictures.

hi bill, thanks. yes H pattern shift. oh yeah, it holds its own and more! even against late model v8 cars. (ford have just started selling the 2016 mustangs here) plus we have the holden (GM) ss v8s here. SEARCH; 2016 HOLDEN SS V8 UTE. you might like them! they build them here in oz.

this vette has some power. it has mild cam and brand new set roller rockers, free flow headers and 2 and 1/2" exhaust. plus has a race clutch. it goes like a rocket! just had a corvette specialist give her a look over, he says she is in great condition. reckons shes putting out somewhere close to 400hp.

yes, plenty of American L/H drive imports here. all you need is a special certificate to register them.
I looked at a couple of L/H drive vettes, but went with this one due to the R/H drive conversion, just easier to live with on daily basis, as its just like any other car here. my daily drive is a 2000 BMW 2.3ltr 2 door coupe (modified) pic attached.IMG_0164.jpg

Cool

Very interesting, not sure at this age and all these years driving on the LH SIDE i could drive on the RH SIDE, it will be a whole new experience for sure :beer

I had an American colleague here for work. he rented a car here. that was an experience. every time we turned a corner he would head for the r/h side of the road and I would be screaming left side, left side. my nerves were a bit frazzled after being his passenger for a few days. but he wanted to drive! all comes down to what your used to I guess.
I think I hear my corvette calling....:rotfl
cheers Bill :thumb

I feel like taking a drive today too, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO YOUR MOTHER, my mother passed away what will be 16 years ago this month, the 16th. I really miss her!!
