68 steering wheel

I've been told that the leather, 3-spoke (with a split in the middle of each spoke) is the correct style. I picked my new one up from Willcox.

Mine's original...3 spoke......woodgrain plastic large diameter wheel......
Can post a pic if need be.......

The leather one may have been option...not sure.......

The attachment is from an NCRS 68 and there is a reconditioned one on Ebay

Bud

Thank you all. I recently bought a 68 and it came with two wheels. The one mounted is the simulated walnut and the spare is a smaller diametered black wheel.

mine has one that looks like the picture that Bud posted, its a big one ;)

IIRC, '67 and '68 had the same wheel, the wood grained 3 spoke that Cee and others have mentioned above. In '69 they went to a 1" smaller black plastic wheel.

There were no optional steering wheels in '68.

I've been told that the larger wood wheels were murder because of its size. I still have a hard enough time getting in and out from under the the current wheel I have!

Thanks Mikey...

I believe that is why they reduced the diameter, ever notice that when you go for the headlight switch on a '68 you end sticking your hand THRU the steering wheel? Kind of annoying....
