;helpI'm new here so if this isn't allowed, I apologize.

Anyone have the v-belt routing for a '73 Vette 454.
Compressor single pulley. Water pump, P/S pump and
alternator, dual pulleys. No smog pump. The compressor
pulley lines up with the front pulley of the W/P, P/S and
Alt. Not the crankshaft pulley. The front pulley of the
crankshaft lines up with the rear pulley of the W/P, P/S
and Alt. I don't think the compressor runs off the W/P, P/S
and Alt. without going around the crankshaft. I'm thinking
perhaps an extra pulley is missing on the crank or the dual
pulley on the crank with the inside pulley lining up with
nothing is in too far. Either a drawing, photo or illustration would help. I have a book of belt routing illustrations, but only goes back as far as 1981.

I've got all the information I need on this VIR system
except the belt routing.

Thanks,

Mustang Man

1st track - C/S to WP
2nd track - C/S to WP to PS (inside)
3rd track - WP to A.I.R to A/C - and seperately PS (outside) to ALT

Since the A.I.R is missing you would disregard A.I.R above.

Thanks KOPBET,

Looks like I have some pulley problems. Maybe mix matched somehow.

The '73 assembly instruction manual will have belt routing diagrams for all engines/options and will list original part numbers. With the AIM, you should be able to determine whether you're missing a pulley. PS might require and add-on pulley on the crank.

:)

Here you go:

Just check out The '73 Spot for your needs :D

The one thing missing is the dual pulley PS with A/C setup (identical to the upper right except includes A/C).

The A/C with PS is the bottom right and does not use a dual pulley on the PS.

It clearly says LS4 under the diagram,

If not, please come correct my car.
Sorry, I stand corrected. I saw the L48/L82 at the top of the diagram.

So pulled out my assembly manual and there it is.

Hummmm, makes you wonder why they would have two different belt configurations for the same RPO combo?

Now I really feel bad. Just went out and popped the hood on mine and looked. I have the two grove PS pulley on my A/C car :(

Think I need to start spending more time with my car :D

You guys are great. The pictures/diagrams are just what I needed. This Vette has no AIR pump or idler. The other pulleys seem to be like the diagrams. I should be able to get this thing cold now.

Thanks a million. You guys, this site came highly recommended by another iATN member.
