I am considering selling my C3 and buying a C5. Are there any years that I should avoid, or particular problems encounter with specific year models of the C5.

I have a 2004 Z51 with A4 and all options and I enjoy my Corvette to the MAX.I had a C4 Z51 all options no comparison to C5.At 6'3" 220 I fit very well;long road trip 12hrs no problem,just my 2cnts worth.

I am with Yellow on that one. Wait by agreeing with Yellow does that mean I will someday own one? Are my values and taste leaving me?

I love that fat @$$ on the C5!


We have been looking at C5's also and there are different things to love about each year. I really like the FRC for me but who knows what I will end up with.
I am looking for a driver not a garage queen.

I never heard of the C5.5. Must have been a limited production run, resulting in a rare find. I guess trying to find a C5.5 must be as difficult as finding a 1983 Corvette.

In my first response I was just simply suggesting to captras to go for the C6. I have nothing against the C5. I was suggesting the C6 because there are many used low mileage C6's out there that still have factory warranty, most likely free of problems that the original C5 owner may have goten rid of it for, and most likely not beat on as much as say a 1997 C5.

You are the one that brought up the C5.5 in order to slam the C6. I was just simply making fun of the slam that put out there. Because there is no such thing as a C5.5 and just like there is no such thing as a 1983 Vette. Yes, there were 43 1983's produced, and all but one have been destoryed in one way or another. And that one surviving 1983 is at The National Corvette Museum.
